Joshua Perreira Vs. Antonio Cesar, Lee Seung Cheol Vs. Karen Ghazaryan MMA Bouts Added To ONE Fight Night 48
ONE Championship has locked in two more thrilling MMA bouts for ONE Fight Night 48, pitting explosive finisher Joshua “Flyin Hawaiian” Perreira against red-hot Brazilian Antonio “The Flash” Cesar, while South Korea’s Lee “The Flash” Seung Cheol looks to continue his unbeaten winning streak against Armenia’s Karen Ghazaryan.
Both fights go down live in U.S. primetime on Prime Video, Friday, October 2, from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Perreira grew up in Hawaii before later relocating to Ohio, and now trains out of Immortal Martial Arts. The perfect 6-0 finisher is dangerous everywhere the fight goes, equally comfortable on the feet or on the canvas.
The 29-year-old most recently delivered a highlight-reel moment, stopping fellow American Gilbert Nakatani with a 38-second spinning backfist knockout earlier this year.
Perreira’s ONE journey has had its share of twists, including a TKO loss in his debut that was later overturned to a no contest, a bout in which he suffered a knee injury requiring ACL surgery. He was originally slated to face Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang at ONE Fight Night 45 this year, but a late change saw Cesar step in for that bout, and now the two are set to collide directly.
Cesar was born in Manaus, Brazil, and trains under Fight Academy and Associação Maquiné.
The Brazilian enters on a blazing nine-fight winning streak and holds an overall MMA record of 14-2, with five finishes to his name.
Cesar made a massive statement on short notice, stepping in to face ONE veteran and Filipino fan favorite Adiwang and coming away with a unanimous decision victory. That hard-fought win instantly put the rest of the flyweight division on notice.
In the strawweight matchup, Lee brings an unblemished promotional record into the bout.
The 27-year-old South Korean, who trains at DK Gym, holds an overall MMA record of 13-1 and remains perfect inside the ONE ring at 6-0.
After winning four straight fights on ONE Friday Fights, Lee earned a coveted US$100,000 contract with the world’s largest martial arts organization. Since then, he has continued his dominant run with impressive victories over Fabio Henrique and Bokang “Little Giant” Masunyane.
Standing across from him will be Ghazaryan, a 25-year-old explosive striker from Armenia representing Shahmuradyan Fight Club.
Known for hunting knockouts with heavy hands both standing and on the ground, Ghazaryan holds a record of 5-1, with every one of his wins coming by finish.
His lone promotional setback came in his debut against Japan’s Hiroba Minowa, and he came back in style to demolish Hisashi Ezaki in next outing via TKO. Now, Ghazaryan looks to start winning streak of his own to dismantle the South Korean.
