Jonathan Haggerty Vs. Felipe Lobo World Title Clash To Headline ONE Fight Night 19 On Prime Video

Jonathan Haggerty Felipe Lobo

Two-sport king Jonathan “The General” Haggerty is ready to put his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship on the line for the first time at ONE Fight Night 19 on Prime Video

The English superstar will face #2-ranked contender Felipe “Demolition Man” Lobo in a scintillating main event, which broadcasts live in U.S. primetime from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, February 16.

Haggerty enters the clash at the peak of his powers and with the combat sports world glued to his every move.

Despite some weight and health issues in 2022, “The General” strung together a four-bout winning streak to earn a ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title shot against longtime divisional ruler Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video last April.

Many critics wrote off the British superstar’s chances because of the Thai legend’s destructive reign over the bantamweight ranks. But Haggerty – a former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion – silenced the doubters with a crushing first-round knockout to dethrone Nong-O and capture gold in a second weight class.

Following the shocking victory, there was no shortage of challengers calling Haggerty out.

But the 26-year-old Londoner switched sports in his next bout, as he met Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade for the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE Fight Night 16 on Prime Video.

Again, “The General” was on fire in their November 2023 tussle, dominating the reigning ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion en route to a second-round KO. That incredible win earned him the kickboxing strap and made him a two-sport ONE World Champion.

When he went to Andrade’s corner to check up on him following the match, Haggerty got into a heated altercation with Lobo.

“Demolition Man” was in Andrade’s corner for the contest, and he exchanged words with Haggerty just moments before the Brit’s hand was raised in the center of the ring.

However, it’s on merit that Lobo gets his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship opportunity.

After beating elite Thai opponents Rodlek PK Saenchai and Yodpanomrung Jitmuangnon in his first two promotional outings, the 30-year-old Brazilian earned a World Title shot against Nong-O. Ultimately, he came up short in the third round.

Undeterred, Lobo rebounded in style when he knocked out perennial top-five contender Saemapetch Fairtex in a rip-roaring battle at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video to explode up the rankings.

Now, the pair will settle their differences in the ring, and the better man will leave with the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title draped over his shoulder.
