‘I’m Looking For A Grand Finish’ – Aung La N Sang Wants To Put On A Show At ONE’s U.S. Debut On May 5

Aung La N Sang makes his way to the Circle at ONE 163

When former two-division king Aung La N Sang heard about ONE Championship’s first-ever live event on American soil, he instantly wanted in. Luckily for him, his wish was granted.

On May 5, “The Burmese Python” will battle Chinese standout Fan Rong in a pivotal middleweight MMA showdown at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video, which broadcasts live from 1stBank Center in Colorado.

While the Myanmar sports icon has grown accustomed to competing in the organization’s biggest shows across Asia, he lives and trains in Florida, so he’s happy to avoid a long day of travel to fight in the U.S. for the first time in his nine-year promotional run.

More importantly, he’s looking forward to performing live in front of a raucous American crowd.

Aung La N Sang said:

“It’s going to be very exciting. No 20-plus hour flights, which I don’t mind now. I’m kind of used to it now. I just see it as a day for myself to relax, read a book, watch movies, and eat some snacks on the airplane. For me, it ain’t too bad anymore.

“But yeah, it’s going to be cool to fight in front of my family, in front of some of the U.S. fans. I’m excited to put on a great show. It’s going to be exciting.”

Less travel will certainly make event week much easier for the 37-year-old superstar, but fighting in Colorado presents its own set of challenges. Namely, he’ll be competing at elevation, where the air contains less oxygen than at sea level.

A veteran of over 40 bouts and a consummate professional, Aung La N Sang is doing everything he can to prepare for the rigors of fighting at high altitude. Because of that, he is confident that he’ll have plenty of endurance on May 5.

“The Burmese Python” offered:

“To get acclimated to the elevation, I have everything in place. I’m going to go there a little early. As far as nutrition goes, I’m gonna be taking some supplements, like beetroot juice and stuff like that. I don’t want to give all the details, but I think I’ll be good.

“My cardio will be on point. I have a professional team of guys that helps me acclimate to the elevation. I’ve done my research on this, and I’m going to be professional about it.”

Aung La N Sang Is ‘Looking To Break’ Fan Rong

Though he is excited to put on a show for the American fans, Aung La N Sang is ultimately focused on defeating Fan Rong at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video.

The former ONE Light Heavyweight and Middleweight World Champion is riding a two-bout winning streak, having earned back-to-back knockouts in the first round. And if he had his way, he’d claim victory over China’s “King Kong Warrior” in one of the wildest ways imaginable on May 5.

He said:

“I’m going to do a hook kick and a jumping kick to the body. Finish him with a superman flying knee.

“Just kidding.”

All jokes aside, Aung La N Sang is “looking for a knockout.”

But more importantly, the Kill Cliff FC representative wants to dominate Fan and finish him off in spectacular fashion.

He said:

“I’m looking for a finish. Honestly, I’m looking for a grand finish. If the submission is there, I’ll take it, but I’m not going to force anything. I’m just going to look to break him and outwork him. I’ll just break him.”
