WMMAA Champion Fan Rong‘s first exposure to the martial arts was in 2009, after he moved to Haerbin to attend university. A friend had invited him to tag along to Longyun MMA, and introduced him to his current coach, Jiang Long Yun.
Big, strong, and athletic, Fan was astonished when Jiang beat him easily with superior technique, and fell in love with martial arts instantly as a result. After training for a few years and seeing his teammates going abroad for competition, Fan decided turning professional was a way for him to travel the world and expand his horizons.
Although he fell short in his pro debut, Fan bounced back to go on a tear through the Chinese scene, finishing all but one opponent in an 11-bout win streak to earn a spot on the ONE Championship roster. Now poised to make his mark on the global stage in the middleweight division, his goal is to contend for a World Title belt as soon as possible, and put on spectacular performances along the way.
