‘Fighting Muangthai Was Always Exciting’ – Seksan Eager To Renew Longtime Rivalry At ONE Friday Fights 114

Thai legend Seksan “The Man Who Yields To No One” Or Kwanmuang is gearing up for another thrilling encounter with a familiar foe.

On June 27, the 36-year-old veteran will lock horns with “Elbow Zombie” Muangthai PK Saenchai in a 140-pound Muay Thai clash at ONE Friday Fights 114 inside the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

This marks the fifth meeting between these fan favorites, with their previous four battles taking place outside of ONE Championship. The pair have built a rivalry over the years, with Seksan holding a 4-0 advantage in their meetings, each of which were closely contested, all-out wars.

The dynamic has shifted heading into this ONE Championship showdown.

While Muangthai enters the bout riding a two-fight winning streak with knockout victories over Kongsuk Fairtex and Ibragim Abdulmedzhidov, Seksan is looking to bounce back from a surprising TKO loss to Asa Ten Pow at ONE Fight Night 30.

Seksan recently spoke to onefc.com about the longtime rivalry:

“Fighting Muangthai was always exciting. I received applause from the fans every time we met. Especially our last fight at Lumpinee. It was incredibly exciting. The fans cheered throughout the entire stadium because we are both aggressive, forward-moving fighters, which made the fight incredibly entertaining.”

The four-time Muay Thai World Champion believes his previous dominance over Muangthai gives him a psychological edge.

Despite both strikers evolving since their last encounter, Seksan thinks his opponent will be feeling the heat:

“I think the pressure is on Muangthai. He’s currently in good form and wants to improve even further. Also, he’s lost to me four times already, so I’m sure he’s really looking to secure a win this time.”

For “The Man Who Yields To No One,” this fight represents much more than just another high-profile matchup.

After suffering his first knockout loss in years, Seksan views this as a crucial opportunity to get back on track:

“This fight is very important to me. If I win this fight, I can redeem myself after my previous knockout loss, and it will give me the momentum to keep moving forward.”

Seksan Analyzes His Dangerous Opponent

While Seksan Or Kwanmuang holds the historical advantage, he has nothing but respect for Muangthai PK Saenchai’s absurd durability, unbreakable spirit, and lethal striking arsenal.

After four previous fights, he knows exactly what makes the former Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion such a tough foe:

“Muangthai is a fighter with an incredibly strong chin. He’s very durable against heavy punches and elbows. He takes heavy shots but still manages to withstand them.

“Also, his elbows are deadly. He can throw them from any position, whether in the clinch or at a distance. His elbows are very dangerous; you can’t take your eyes off them.”

To prepare for this pivotal showdown, Seksan has relocated his training camp to Bangkok and changed up his sparring partners, well aware that defeating Muangthai requires nothing short of perfect preparation.

He’s doing everything in his power to put his best foot forward at ONE Friday Fights 114:

“I’ve been training for a longer period here in Bangkok because this camp needs to be intense. Fighting Muangthai is no ordinary feat. This fight will definitely be a tough one.

“I’m training at The Ratchada Plaza. This time, I have some foreign fighters and the younger guys from the gym. I’m focusing on elbows and punches to fight him.”
