An electrifying featherweight submission grappling clash between Fabricio “Hokage” Andrey and fellow BJJ ace Joao “Bisnaga” Mendes has been added to ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger on Prime Video.

This all-Brazilian showdown pits two submission hunters eager to prove supremacy, broadcasting live in U.S. primetime on Friday, February 13, from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Andrey needs no introduction to the global stage after a blistering 2-0 start in the world’s largest martial arts organization. The IBJJF and ADCC veteran entered the promotion with massive hype surrounding his explosive, fan-friendly style that blends devastating takedowns with relentless submission hunting.

The 25-year-old Manaus native uses strong judo-based attacks to send opponents flying with powerful foot sweeps and trips. His elite athleticism allows him to zoom past guards with surgical precision, creating highlight-reel moments that have made him a must-watch competitor.

“Hokage” displayed these qualities in full force during his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 30 in April. There, against Ashley Williams, he flowed between high-step and toreando passes with ease, pressuring his opponent’s guard relentlessly.

That aggression powered him to a dominant unanimous decision victory after 10 minutes of pure action.

Redemption fueled his sophomore outing against Eduardo “Dudu” Granzotto. The Brazilian had stunned Andrey with an upset victory in the gi at the IBJJF Worlds in January.

When the rematch arrived at ONE Fight Night 36 last October, “Hokage” wasted no time. He smothered “Dudu” with relentless top pressure, nearly securing an armbar finish in the process.

The Alliance affiliate earned another unanimous decision, improving his professional record to 103-27.

Andrey’s next opponent brings an equally impressive pedigree. Mendes enters his ONE Championship debut carrying momentum from capturing the 2025 IBJJF Black Belt World Championship in the featherweight division.

The 28-year-old is a respected veteran on the IBJJF circuit, known for his technical and well-rounded repertoire in both gi and no-gi competition.

Mendes’ fundamentals were honed at Atos Jiu-Jitsu, one of the sport’s most prestigious academies, under the legendary Andre Galvao.

That pedigree shows in Mendes’ efficient guard passing, strategic pressure application, and tactical adaptability.

The stylistic parallels between these two Brazilians make this matchup particularly intriguing. Both grapplers bring elite pressure passing, relentless submission attacks, and the tactical IQ to adapt on the fly.

On February 13, Andrey will look to protect his perfect ONE record while Mendes aims to announce his arrival with a statement-making performance.
