Demetrious Johnson Praises ‘Amazing’ Stamp Fairtex As Interim Atomweight MMA World Title Date Approaches

Demetrious Johnson Stamp Fairtex

Since joining ONE Championship, Stamp Fairtex has always wanted to become a three-sport queen, and ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious Johnson believes the Thai megastar will do just that in her next MMA outing.

The division’s #1 contender meets #2-ranked Ham “Hamzzang” Seo Hee for the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight World Title live in U.S. primetime in the main event of ONE Fight Night 14 on Prime Video on Friday, September 1.

“Mighty Mouse” watched in awe as the former ONE Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champ made quick work of Alyse Anderson in the promotion’s North American debut at ONE Fight Night 10 – a monumental card headlined by his ONE Flyweight World Title rubber match with Adriano Moraes.

Johnson told ONEFC.com:

“Amazing growth from Stamp. Stamp is really big for the weight class, and strong. Not taking anything away from Alyse Anderson, but I felt that there was a huge size difference when I saw Anderson compared to Stamp.”

From start to finish, Stamp mesmerized the crowd inside the sold-out 1stBank Center in Denver, Colorado – including Johnson, who watched from backstage.

The 25-year-old delivered her exemplary Stamp Dance, backed up her hype with a crushing body kick knockout in the second round, and celebrated the victory with her signature twirl.

Per the flyweight king, Stamp’s US$50,000 performance bonus-winning debut in the United States was perfect. Most notably, the MMA GOAT was impressed by her strong all-around display against Anderson.

In fact, Johnson believes no contender could stack up against the woman who is chasing three-sport glory at this point of her career.

He said:

“Stamp has done amazing [with] her development. I think she’s going to have to run into somebody who’s a very big, athletic wrestler [in order to face any] trouble. I don’t see anybody in ONE Championship that’s going to be able to beat her.”

Demetrious Johnson Predicts That Stamp Will ‘Probably Be A Champion’ In MMA

After racking up several victories, including winning the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship, Stamp unfortunately fell short in her bid to become the promotion’s first-ever three-sport World Champ when she lost to “Unstoppable” Angela Lee at ONE X in March of 2022.

But with Lee now taking an extended leave from competition to focus on family matters, Stamp’s win over Anderson earned her a shot at interim gold against #2-ranked Ham Seo Hee.

That said, Johnson believes Stamp’s growing arsenal and all-around charisma will be what propels her toward MMA gold in a few months.

“I think she’ll probably be an [MMA] champion here soon.”

For her part, Ham isn’t going to let the Thai striking specialist run away with a decisive victory.

The experienced South Korean is on a 3-0 run on the global stage and riding a nine-fight win streak that dates back to June 2017.

With so much at stake, expect these two contenders to put together a thrilling contest from the opening bell when their scheduled five-round battle gets underway on Friday, September 1.
