Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke had his back against the wall. He lost his last two matches to top contenders in his hometown of Bangkok, Thailand, and a third-consecutive defeat would have been devastating.

Amnuaysirichoke was able to end his skid on Friday, 26 May. The 38-year-old Evolve MMA product made quick work of Indonesia’s Adrian Mattheis, stopping the “Papua Badboy” with a straight left at the 4:26 mark of the opening round at ONE: DYNASTY OF HEROES in Singapore.

“It feels good,” he offers. “I went 200 per cent in training. I trained hard, I wanted to come back stronger, and I got the win. I feel happy.”

From the opening round, the man known as “Kru Rong” threw every punch and kick with full intention. Mattheis’ lead leg proved a convenient target, as Amnuaysirichoke landed a series of kicks that hit with a deafening thud. Whether throwing punches or kicks, the Indonesian was simply out-gunned from the opening bell.

Mattheis’ only reprieve came courtesy of an inadvertent eye poke with less than two minutes to go in the first stanza. For a brief moment, it looked like the bout was going to end prematurely. The “Papua Badboy” was able to continue, however, and the action resumed.

Still, the end was near. Amnuaysirichoke continued to dish out the punishment. He landed three consecutive left jabs, and the final one sent the Tiger Shark Shark Fighting Academy combatant to the canvas. The referee scrambled to halt the bout and award it to the Thai.

Amnuaysirichoke, as happy as could be, improves to 7-2, and snaps a two-fight skid. Mattheis falls just below the mark at 3-4.
