Dutch-Surinamese superstar Regian “The Immortal” Eersel has won a plethora of World Titles across his incredible combat sports career. But his latest recognition is perhaps his greatest honor.

The reigning and undisputed ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Champion received a heartfelt tribute from Jennifer Simons, the leader of Suriname’s National Democratic Party and the country’s 11th President, who took to social media to celebrate Eersel’s continued dominance in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Following Eersel’s spectacular 84-second demolition of George “G-Unit” Jarvis at ONE Fight Night 34 in Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, August 1, Simons delivered a powerful message.

She wrote:

“A little late, but certainly not forgotten. Congrats on the championship, Regian ‘The Immortal’ Eersel. Big ups to you! A fighter with an unimaginable passion, perseverance, and Suriname pride. Lightweight Muay Thai World Champion at ONE Championship. The multiple-time champion always puts Suriname on the map with his achievements.”

For Eersel, who left Suriname at the age of 4 when his family sought better opportunities in Amsterdam, the acknowledgment from Simons represents a full-circle moment in his remarkable journey from immigrant child to global martial arts icon.

The 32-year-old World Champion has consistently carried the flag of his birthplace throughout his career. Today, he is one of Suriname’s most celebrated athletes on the international stage.

Eersel Thankful For Overflowing Fan Support

Regian Eersel’s latest performance against George Jarvis showcased the exact qualities Simons highlighted in her tribute.

The lightweight Muay Thai ruler made quick work of “G-Unit.” He dropped the British challenger twice, culminating in a thunderous right hand that ended the contest at the 1:24 mark of the opening round.

With his third ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title defense in the books, Eersel solidified himself as the undisputed king of the 170-pound division. Moreover, he has never been defeated in Muay Thai competition under the ONE Championship banner.

As messages of congratulations poured in from fans all across the globe, Eersel took the time to acknowledge the energy and motivation he draws from his growing fan base.

The Dutch-Surinamese warrior said:

“Everyone, thank you for your support. I really feel the energy, also the messages I get online. Keep doing it, keep supporting me, it only motivates me, and much love to you all. Keep following me and keep supporting me because I’m here to entertain you guys and create beautiful fights.”
