Rodtang Picks Superbon To Beat Tawanchai In Razor-Close World Title Matchup

Rodtang Jitmuangnon Edgar Tabares ONE Fight Night 10 28

Rodtang Jitmuangon is expecting big things from the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title clash between Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Superbon Singha Mawynn on Friday, October 6.

“The Iron Man” – who is preparing for his own World Title battle with Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Friday Fights 34 on September 22 – thinks the contest will showcase the best of Muay Thai to the global audience.

Reigning king Tawanchai and challenger Superbon are both superstars in their native Thailand, so when they headline ONE Fight Night 15 on Prime Video at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the atmosphere will be electric.

Just like the passionate fans in attendance and those watching around the world, Rodtang will be zoned in on the action between two strikers at the top of their games.

The Jitmuangnon Gym athlete said:

“I’m another one who really wants to see this fight. Superbon vs. Tawanchai is a clash between technical fighters. You can’t see this kind of match every day.”

Tawanchai has looked unstoppable in recent appearances, notching five straight wins with four stoppages. The 24-year-old looks stronger with every outing, but Rodtang thinks Superbon is a next-level threat.

He saw the former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion rebound from losing the gold with a stoppage of Tayfun Ozcan last time out, and he knows the 33-year-old Singha Mawynn representative owns an incredible resume.

Noting the upsides for both men, “The Iron Man” said:

“Someone might say Tawanchai has the age advantage. Certainly, he’s younger, but you can’t underestimate Superbon’s experience. He is a veteran, so this match is difficult to predict.”

Rodtang: ‘Nobody Can Match Superbon’s High Kick’

As the reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion with over 300 bouts to his credit, Rodtang knows the sport as well as anybody.

And having trained with Superbon Singha Mawynn, he also has a unique insight on the upcoming ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title showdown.

With this knowledge, “The Iron Man” sees one weapon, in particular, that could be a huge issue for Tawanchai PK Saenchai when he defends the gold on October 6.

Rodtang explained:

“Nobody can match Superbon’s high kick. When Tawanchai throws his high kick, I can see it coming. But I can’t see Superbon’s kick. His kick is as fast as lightning, and it’ll land on your face before you know it.

“I had an opportunity to spar with Superbon, and I got hit by his high kicks more than 10 times. You never see it coming.

“He works really hard to develop this kind of deadly kick. And he can do it naturally. He can send people to sleep anytime.”

Despite this dangerous weapon, Rodtang won’t write off the hard-hitting Tawanchai and believes the pair are evenly matched.

But when pressed for a choice, he’s leaning toward Superbon to dethrone his compatriot and become a two-sport World Champion in ONE.

He added:

“My prediction for this fight is 50-50. If I have to take a side, my bet is on Superbon. But again, everything can happen in the ring. That’s why I said my prediction for this fight is 50-50.

“But I believe Superbon may use his experience to dominate Tawanchai.”
