Myanmar lethwei star Saw Darwait is originally from Pathein, and was born to a family of farmers. After working odd jobs as a waiter and laborer in search of a better life, he moved to Hpa-An at the age of 23 in pursuit of lethwei training, and has never looked back on chasing his martial arts dreams.
Saw Darwait has already competed close to 50 times in the lethwei ring, and only narrowly failed to capture the Lethwei Welterweight World Title, losing a split decision after a grueling battle.
Training out of Taung Ka Lay along with other ONE Championship athletes including Saw Ba Oo and Ye Thway Ne, Saw Darwait then tried his hand at mixed martial arts, debuting at ONE: HERO’S DREAM in Yangon in November 2017. There, he showed off his growing grappling, shocking his compatriot Sit Mhan with a choke submission just 41 seconds into the very first round.
