Born in Makhachkala, Dagestan, to parents who owned a small business, Akaev’s martial arts journey began out of necessity. His restless energy as a child prompted his mother to enroll him in sports classes, where she hoped her son would channel his fierce vitality into something productive.

Akaev first discovered combat sports through wushu sanda and then transitioned to wrestling after five years of training. As the Dagestani expanded his skills across multiple disciplines, he adapted his sanda foundation to create a devastating MMA arsenal.

But tragedy struck early in Akaev’s life when both parents passed away – his mother when he was just 11 years old, followed by his father when he was 19. These profound losses forced him to mature rapidly, transforming his youthful restlessness into laser-sharp focus while tempering any hot-headed tendencies.

A couple of years after losing his dad, Akaev made his professional MMA debut in 2017. Over the next seven years, he maintained an unblemished record against tougher and tougher opponents, establishing himself as one of the region’s most promising talents.

Beyond his official professional record, the Dagestani fighter received more attention in 2024 by dominating Hype FC, a prominent Russian TV show. He won four professional-rules fights in just one month to claim the championship, significantly raising his profile throughout the nation and catching the eye of promotions worldwide.

Now stepping onto ONE Championship’s global stage, Akaev remains determined to keep his perfect record intact. The Dagestani won’t rest until he claims the ONE Welterweight MMA World Title, ready to honor his parents’ memory by reaching the absolute pinnacle of mixed martial arts.
