Koetsu Okazaki is a former Shooto 132lbs world champion and emerged as one of the top fighters competing for the Japanese promotion. He won eight of his first ten fights, with the sole blemish on that record being a decision defeat to former ONE Bantamweight World Title challenger Masakatsu Ueda.
Okazaki won the Shooto rookie tournament as an amateur, and triumphed its Pacific Rim Championship in 2009 before claiming the organization’s world title in 2011. He holds wins over the likes of Hiroyuki Tanaka and Hiromasa Ogikubo, and fought for the interim Interim ONE World Bantamweight Title last year, going five full rounds with Bibiano Fernandes en route to a unanimous decision defeat.
After the loss to Fernandes, he rebounded with back stoppage wins over Josh Alvarez and Yusup Saadulaev inside the ONE cage and will be looking for the third win of his ONE Championship career in Jakarta.
