Carlo Bumina-ang

Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang is one of the latest blue-chip prospects emerging from the well-entrenched Philippine mixed martial arts scene.

Initially aspiring to be a basketball player, Bumina-ang found his true calling in martial arts, influenced by his older brother. In 2017, he began formal training, realizing that this was the path he wanted to pursue.

Bumina-ang is a versatile combat sports athlete, gaining a stellar reputation for his achievements across various disciplines. After securing his first win in the professional MMA ranks, he joined the Philippine National Team to showcase his talent in the Southeast Asian Games.

Wearing the country’s colors in 2022, he made a remarkable debut in vovinam — a traditional Vietnamese martial art — authoring a silver-medal finish.

His journey of representing the Philippines continued in 2023 when he returned to the Southeast Asian Games, taking home a bronze medal in kickboxing.

Bumina-ang’s versatility and adaptability continued to shine through as he achieved a double-gold medal feat at the 2023 Pan-Asian Gi & No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu International Open.

“The Bull” resumed his MMA career through the weekly ONE Friday Fights series in 2023. There, he amassed five consecutive victories, four by finish, establishing himself as a Filipino rising star.

His impressive run culminated in May 2024 when he earned a US$100,000 contract with ONE Championship. Now, Bumina-ang aims to sustain his momentum and make a significant impact on the global stage.
