Nothing was going to stand in the way of Keanu Subba’s dream of reaching the global stage of martial arts. Though he was unable to afford a gym to train at growing up in the United States, Subba and his older brother improvised with a pair of gloves from Wal-Mart and YouTube tutorials. However, his time in North America came to an abrupt end in 2016 as his cousin was stricken with cancer. Returning to his home country of Malaysia to be by his cousin’s bedside, Subba also forged ahead with his martial arts pursuits, and managed to make his professional debut before his passing. Competing in honor of his late cousin, the featherweight sensation will now look to turn in the performance of a lifetime to overcome Japanese warrior Ryogo Takahashi at ONE: FOR HONOR in Jakarta.
