Superlek Kiatmoo9 Finishes Danial Williams, Retains Flyweight Kickboxing Crown

Superlek Kiatmoo9 Danial Williams ONE Fight Night 8 42

In the main event of ONE Fight Night 8, “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 defended his ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title with expert precision.

The 27-year-old sensation shined against Danial “Mini T” Williams, who courageously stepped up on just a few days’ notice to replace an injured Rodtang Jitmuangnon for this headline attraction at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, March 24.

Williams displayed excellent movement throughout the opening frame, but the Thai superstar patiently stalked his prey and found a home for a handful of teeps and punishing leg kicks.

Superlek picked up the pace and aggression in the second stanza. Indeed, “The Kicking Machine” was in top form as he showed the full breadth of his dangerous kicking game.

The finish came in the third round, and it was spectacular. The first of two knockdowns happened when Wiliams leaned in with an overhand right. As he threw the strike, Superlek fired off a head kick, but it was the Thai’s thunderous knee that connected with Williams’ head and put the Perth native down on the mat.

“Mini T” beat the referee’s 10-count and gamely fought on, but he would only last a few moments longer.

Smelling blood in the water, Superlek went back on the attack. He connected with a massive step-in knee, blitzed the dazed challenger with punches, and then dropped him to the canvas with a right cross.

This time, Williams was unable to continue and the referee called an end to the bout at 1:55 of round three. The knockout not only ensured Superlek would go home with the 26-pound golden belt, but it also earned him a US$50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

With this unforgettable win, the Kiatmoo9 Gym representative has now successfully defended his ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title for the first time. Simultaneously, the Thai star improved his jaw-dropping record to 133-29.
