Regian Eersel Delivers Vintage Performance To Beat Alexis Nicolas In Trilogy Bout At ONE Fight Night 30

Former six-time ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion Regian “The Immortal” Eersel’s latest win over Alexis “Barboza” Nicolas was bittersweet.

Although Eersel earned a majority decision to go up 2-1 against his rival in their third matchup on April 4, he was stripped of the World Title belt ahead of the lightweight fight after missing weight.

Despite not being eligible to win the gold, the 32-year-old Surinamese superstar produced a classic performance at ONE Fight Night 30: Kryklia vs. Knowles on Prime Video to defeat Nicolas for the second straight time in front of a Bangkok crowd at Lumpinee Stadium.

“The Immortal” took some time to settle into the fight, letting Nicolas reveal his game plan in round one, all while mentally outlining his own path to victory.

By round two, Eersel had everything he needed to work with – and work he did. He smashed the Frenchman with a left hook, sending him to the canvas for an eight-count.

Although “Barboza” recovered, Eersel continued to stitch together combinations in round three that paralyzed his opponent before he could retaliate. Then in rounds four and five, “The Immortal” upped the pressure, utilizing his blistering jabs and crosses before taking flight into jumping knee attacks.

After 15 minutes of intense action, two of the three ringside judges awarded the contest to Eersel, who improved his professional striking record to 63-5.

The triumphant fighter used his post-fight mic time to fire a shot at George Jarvis, who won his lightweight Muay Thai bout earlier in the night. Eersel, after all, is still the reigning ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Champion and willing to accept all challengers while he fights his way back to 26 pounds of kickboxing gold.
