ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong speaks at a press conference

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong voiced his support for the Black Lives Matter movement on his personal blog and social media accounts on Wednesday, 3 June.

The campaign, which aims to end systemic racism against African-Americans, began back in 2013. It took center stage once again in recent days following the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minnesota, United States.

Protests erupted in major American cities and have spread around the world. At the same time, social media has been flooded with the #BlackLivesMatter and #BlackoutTuesday hashtags.

Sityodtong, who lived, studied, and worked in the United States for 18 years, described his anguish at the current climate and the way African-American citizens are treated.

“It is time to take a stand against this injustice. It is time to take a stand against this suffering. It is time to take a stand against this racism,” he said.

“I stand with African-Americans. I stand with black people everywhere. I stand with humanity.”
