Jeremy Miado To Face Willie Van Rooyen In Battle Of Knockout Artists At ONE Fight Night 41
ONE Fight Night 41 on Prime Video continues to grow in depth and variety with the addition of a flyweight MMA showdown between two proven knockout artists.
Filipino head hunter Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado will square off against South African slugger Willie “White Lion” van Rooyen on Friday, March 13, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium.
Both men enter the contest looking to regain momentum following setbacks in their most recent appearances, and a victory could shed light on a renewed path toward the top of the flyweight division.
Miado has struggled with consistency during his ONE Championship tenure, but every time he tasted victory inside the world’s largest martial arts organization, a finish was almost guaranteed.
The 33-year-old has secured seven wins across the strawweight and flyweight divisions, with six coming by way of knockout against notable names such as former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and longtime contender Danial “Mini-T” Williams.
A four-fight stoppage streak once placed Miado firmly in the World Title conversation before a string of losses stalled his ascent.
He rebounded impressively at ONE Fight Night 28 with a unanimous decision victory over Gilbert Nakatani, though he most recently suffered a stoppage loss to Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev at ONE Fight Night 38 last December.
Now, the Marrok Force affiliate is hungry to deliver another statement performance against elite opposition.
Van Rooyen arrived on the global stage as one of Africa’s most dominant forces, capturing the EFC Flyweight Title twice in his home country. Along the way, he compiled a flawless 7-0 record that featured five finishes.
The 23-year-old is dangerous with his punches, elbows, and relentless ground-and-pound, showcasing a well-rounded finishing arsenal.
However, his pristine record came to an end in his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 37 last November, where he suffered a submission loss to Kholmirzaev. Now, the South African standout looks to rebound by scoring a statement victory over a fellow finisher.
Following a ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Title bout and an exhilarating lightweight Muay Thai showdown between two former ONE World Title challengers, fans can expect more fireworks with the addition of Miado versus Van Rooyen.
