Jarred Brooks To Challenge Joshua Pacio For ONE Strawweight World Title At ONE 158 On 3 June

Joshua Pacio defends the ONE Strawweight World Title against Jarred Brooks on 3 June

Jarred Brooks has finally gotten his wish.

The American MMA star will officially challenge ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio for the gold in the main event of ONE 158, which goes down live at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 3 June.

This is a match Brooks has wanted for a long time.

After submitting Pacio’s Team Lakay stablemate Lito Adiwang in his promotional debut last November, “The Monkey God” started calling out the reigning strawweight king.

Those callouts got even louder this year, as the 29-year-old Indiana native dominated #3-ranked contender Hiroba Minowa in January and then choked out #1-ranked contender Bokang Masunyane in the first round last month.

By finishing Masunyane, Brooks moved his record to 19-2 (1 NC), earned the #1 contender spot, and was awarded the next shot at Pacio’s ONE Strawweight World Title.

In his post-fight interview with ONE Championship analyst Mitch Chilson, “The Monkey God” fired a message at the Filipino kingpin:

“Joshua Pacio I’m coming for you, man. I swear I’m taking that belt to the United States. I promise you.”

Joshua Pacio Wants To Show Jarred Brooks Who ‘The Real Daddy Is’

Jarred Brooks may be ripping through the strawweight division’s elite at a breakneck pace, but Joshua Pacio has been equally impressive in his career.

The 26-year-old is a five-time ONE Strawweight World Champion who owns a 20-3 professional record and an 85 percent finishing rate.

Most recently, Pacio knocked out old foe Yosuke Saruta in the first round of their World Title trilogy bout to retain the belt.

That win put the Team Lakay product on a four-fight winning streak, and he’s been waiting patiently for his next challenger ever since.

That challenge will come from Brooks, who infamously told Pacio that “daddy’s home” following his win over Hiroba Minowa in January.

Pacio hasn’t forgotten that comment – or any of the American’s trash talk – and he recently offered a simple message for his heated rival:

“[I want] to show [Brooks] who’s the best strawweight on the planet and who the real daddy is. I heard you calling my name many times. Don’t you worry. I’ll see you soon.”
