‘I’m So Lucky’ – Newly Engaged Denice Zamboanga Talks About Her Relationship With Fiance Fritz Biagtan

Denice Zamboanga makes her way to the Circle at ONE X

Third-ranked women’s atomweight MMA contender Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga officially has a ring on her finger.

Zamboanga surprised her fans and friends when she announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend and training partner, Fritz Biagtan, on social media on May 27.

The couple, however, were actually engaged in the Philippines on May 1. “Lycan Queen” usually keeps her personal life private, so the delayed announcement completely fits with her vibe.

In a post written partially in Tagalog, Zamboanga wrote:

“To those who don’t know I’m in a relationship, I’m sorry for surprising you that I’m engaged now. I just don’t post [about] my relationship on social media – not because I’m not proud of my partner, but I [prefer to] keep it low key.

“We’ve been together for nearly three years, and I can’t say anything [bad] about him. He’s down to earth, hardworking, humble, and he has Christ in his heart. He’s my crush, my best friend, my coach, and my favorite sparring partner. I’m so lucky because I met someone like him.”

The two originally met during their time as young upstarts in the Philippine MMA scene.

In fact, the Filipina’s older brother – ONE Championship lightweight MMA fighter Drex Zamboanga – and Biagtan even competed at the same local show together in April 2016.

Soon, Zamboanga and Biagtan’s friendship turned romantic, and the pair now train together at the world-class Marrok Force MMA gym in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Filipina said:

“We’ve known each other for a long time. Fritz and my brother competed at the same time in one card, so we’ve been friends even before [we started dating]. Right now, we’re nearing three years in our relationship. He’s such a nice guy, truly husband material. He’s God-fearing. Everything that I’m looking for in a man, it’s in Fritz.”

Denice Zamboanga Explains Why Fritz Biagtan Is The Perfect Match

One of the main reasons why Denice Zamboanga feels like she hit the jackpot with Fritz Biagtan is because of their compatibility.

Just like “Lycan Queen,” Biagtan is an MMA fighter. Also, he represented the Philippines in Muay Thai – and his most recent outing for the country resulted in a gold medal finish.

While some would struggle to find a partner who truly understands the grind of a professional athlete, the 25-year-old feels blessed to have found someone who can relate to her on multiple levels.

She said:

“It’s a huge thing for me that I found someone with the same interests. For sure, he understands my struggles. There are other situations where their partners don’t understand the struggle of a fighter mainly because they’ve never been there. For me, it makes things easier. Sometimes he becomes my coach and training partner, so it’s a huge thing.”
