‘If There’s An Opening To Trade, I’m Game’ – Decho Ready For Mayhem Against Pompet At ONE Friday Fights 138
Decho Por Borirak thrives when the lights are brightest, and he has a chance to prove it again in another main event showdown at ONE Championship’s first live event of 2026.
The 22-year-old Thai striker headlines his third consecutive card when he faces Pompet PongSuphan PK in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 138 on January 16, broadcasting live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium.
With a chance to inch closer to a six-figure contract, Decho plans to deliver his most complete performance yet in this flyweight Muay Thai clash on Friday.
After claiming two wins at the start of his promotional tenure against Isannuea ChotBangsaen, the Singha Mawynn product suffered a unanimous decision loss to Suriyanlek Por Yenying at ONE Friday Fights 124 last September.
But in their fiery rematch at ONE Friday Fights 131 a month later, he avenged that loss with a solid three-round showing that impressed the judges at ringside.
Despite earning a decisive result that night, the young gun remains humble about his triumph:
“I’d give myself a seven out of ten for my last fight. The result turned out okay, but it wasn’t my best work. I managed to get the win because we had a solid game plan.
“My trainer and I looked at why I lost to him before, we made the right adjustments, and it played out exactly how we practiced.”
In Pompet, Decho will be up against another Thai compatriot who does his best work with his hands.
The 27-year-old enters the headline attraction riding crucial momentum after back-to-back wins over Yodlekpet “The Destroyer” Or Atchariya and Scottish knockout artist Gregor Thom.
But Decho’s recent victory over Suriyanlek has given him the confidence to handle whatever Pompet brings to the table. In fact, he’s not intimidated by his fellow countryman’s match-ending power:
“I’m not too worried about the size difference because our frames are pretty similar. As for the power, I’ve shared the ring with Suriyanlek and handled his heat, so I’m not concerned.
“If there’s an opening to trade, I’m game. But I’ll be playing it smart and following the plan. We’ve worked on my left and right strikes to catch him as he comes in, or even beat him to the punch.”
While Decho is motivated to produce a highlight-reel finish to secure his 49th career victory, he expects the PK Saenchai Muaythaigym technician to withstand his early onslaught.
However, the young contender knows that the deeper the battle goes, the less gas his rival will have in the tank.
Decho told onefc.com:
“From what I’ve seen, he tends to fade a little bit toward the end of the fight. I think I’ll be the fresher fighter when the fight goes deeper, and I’ll have better recovery.
“That’s going to be a problem for him because my cardio is on point. I’ve trained to go hard for all three rounds. I’m not going to gas out.”
Six-Figure Contract Tops Decho’s New Year’s Wishlist
For Decho Por Borirak, defeating Pompet PongSuphan PK isn’t just about proving a point. It’s about positioning himself for the ultimate prize.
The 22-year-old understands that another impressive display, especially a dazzling stoppage, could catch the attention of ONE Championship brass.
As such, he’s ready to leave a lasting impression in this flyweight Muay Thai tilt and continue his upward trajectory in search of a life-changing six-figure contract and global roster spot.
Decho said:
“If I get past this fight, I’m ready for anyone in this division. My main goal for 2026 is to secure that ONE Championship contract.”
The path ahead won’t be easy. ONE Championship’s flyweight Muay Thai division is stacked with killers at every level.
There are proven veterans who can school anyone, including former longtime divisional king Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon, reigning divisional kickboxing ruler Superlek, former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama, and former two-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Kongthoranee Sor Sommai.
Knockout machines like Aslamjon Ortikov, Akif Guluzada, Johan “Jojo” Ghazali, Johan “Panda Kick” Estupinan, and many others also lurk throughout the weight bracket.
But Decho is ready to take whatever battle that comes his way:
“I’ll leave the next fight up to the bosses. I just want to get through this one first. Winning this will definitely boost my confidence and open up more opportunities.
“To all my fans, please tune in this Friday. I’ve put in the work and fixed the holes in my game. I’m ready to go out there and get this win.”
