‘I Need To Finish Him’ – Ubaid Hussain Brings Unbeaten Momentum And Personal Stakes Into ONE Friday Fights 138
When Ubaid “Bad” Hussain returns to the hallowed ground of Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, January 16, he does so carrying momentum that few fighters his age can match.
The 20-year-old Pakistani-British standout is set to face Brazil Aekmuangnon in a flyweight Muay Thai contest at ONE Friday Fights 138, which airs live in Asia primetime.
Unbeaten at 13-0 overall with a perfect 4-0 record inside the weekly spectacle, Hussain enters the first event of the year with his trajectory firmly pointed upward – and another win could inch him closer to the coveted US$100,000 main-roster contract.
Reflecting on his current preparation, Hussain explained how his identity has sharpened:
“I’ve been back to my pressure, moving forward, using my aggressive style, and I’ll use it in this fight.
“I’m coming to fight this time, and I’ve also been working on my power. I want to take him to deep waters. I want to drown him, get him stuck in the corner, things like that.”
Since arriving in the world’s largest martial arts organization, Hussain has shown a willingness to evolve, blending aggression with control as the stakes increase.
That growth first became visible after his breakout performance at ONE Friday Fights 90 in December 2024, when he overwhelmed Petsinchai Kingballroofphuket with stabbing knees and sharp punches to score a first-round knockout.
Since then, he has leaned into maturity, collecting decision victories over Khusen Salomov and Petnakian Sor Nakian twice within a four-month span in 2025 to preserve his unbeaten record.
This time, however, the motivation goes beyond momentum.
Brazil earned his last victory by knocking out Soufiane “Patika” Mejdoubi, a teammate of Hussain’s at Kiatphontip. That moment transformed the matchup from another step forward into something far more personal.
Asked whether finishing the fight mattered, Hussain was direct:
“I need to finish him. I need to get revenge for my boy, Soufiane.”
Hussain Eyes Bigger Tests Beyond January 16
Standing across from Ubaid Hussain at ONE Friday Fights 138 this week will be a fighter carrying confidence of his own.
Brazil Aekmuangnon has registered five victories with the promotion, defeating some of the toughest opponents in the weight class, including Myanmar standout Thway Lin Htet and former WBC Muay Thai World Champion Takuma Ota.
Hussain has studied that danger closely and believes awareness will dictate the fight.
He said:
“I think his IQ is good. The only thing he does well is the right body kick. That’s about it.”
A win over a fellow striking phenom would not only protect his pristine record, but it could also give him an opportunity to face the bigger tests as the flyweight division continues to evolve.
Beyond ONE Friday Fights 138, his ambitions are already taking shape.
The weekly series has served as a proving ground, but Hussain believes he is ready for higher stakes and bigger names, including four Thai knockout artists such as Suriyanlek Por Yenying, Decho Por Borirak, Pompet PongSuphan PK, and Gingsanglek Wor Kumchamnarn.
The 20-year-old Pakistani-British offered:
“After this fight, I want a main event fight. I want the big guys. If I can get the knockout, hopefully that pushes me to that spot.
“[I want] Suriyanlek, Decho, Pompet, or Gingsanglek.”
