Pompet PongSuphan PK has found the confidence he needed at exactly the right time.

The 27-year-old Thai striker will kick off 2026 in the main event spotlight when he faces surging compatriot Decho Por Borirak in a flyweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Friday Fights 138 on January 16, which airs live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.

The all-Thai showdown carries massive implications for both fighters as they chase a life-changing US$100,000 contract with the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Pompet brings 109 career victories across 161 professional bouts into the clash, behind a hard-earned two-fight winning streak.

The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative began his ONE Friday Fights journey in May 2023 with a first-round knockout victory, launching a rollercoaster promotional run that has seen him compile seven victories with four spectacular finishes.

In November last year, Pompet dropped Scottish star Gregor Thom three times in the second round with his devastating right hand. That performance accomplished far more than just extending his winning streak — it shattered a psychological barrier that had limited his potential.

Speaking to onefc.com ahead of his main event opportunity, Pompet revealed the mental obstacles he overcame in that November triumph:

“There was definitely a lot of pressure. I’d never managed to beat a foreigner in this promotion before. Their style is so different from Thai fighters. I was a bit paranoid about his punching power.

“Beating him felt like a total unlock for me. It gave me the confidence I needed to handle those heavy-handed foreign strikers. It proved I’ve leveled up.”

That mental breakthrough positions Pompet perfectly for Friday night’s challenge against Decho, whose youth and relentless energy present a completely different puzzle to solve.

The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym standout explained his preparation:

“I’m facing a younger guy, Decho, who’s got a lot of momentum. He’s young and has endless energy. I’ve been working a lot on my impact power, I need to be ready to stand my ground when we clash.”

Decho, a Singha Mawynn product, has compiled 48 career victories while rapidly ascending through ONE Friday Fights.

Since his ONE debut, the 22-year-old star has secured three of his last four bouts in convincing fashion.

Pompet has studied his opponent extensively, identifying both the dangers that Decho presents and the potential weaknesses to exploit when the opportunity arises:

“Decho is a dangerous brawler with a massive engine. In his last fight against Suriyanlek, his movement was excellent. He knows how to pick his spots and his attacks are very scary.

“He likes to throw high kicks, so I’m ready to slip and counter those. Also, when he throws knees, I noticed his left guard tends to drop. That’s an opening I’m definitely looking to exploit with my boxing.”

Pompet Ready To Trade Shots In Contract-Chasing Showdown

With both fighters carrying aggressive mentalities into the ONE Friday Fights 138 main event, Pompet PongSuphan PK expects fireworks that could produce the career-defining moment he’s been chasing.

The 27-year-old star anticipates a war rather than a technical chess match when he faces Decho Por Borirak at Lumpinee Stadium.

Speaking about his expectations for the bout, Pompet didn’t hold back.

He said:

“It’s going to be a banger. Decho isn’t afraid of my hands and he’s definitely coming to fight. But my body is ready to trade shots too. If I see an opening, I want another highlight-reel finish to boost my chances for that ONE Championship contract.”

The contract with ONE represents the singular focus driving Pompet’s 2026 campaign.

With 11 promotional appearances already completed, the Thai striker believes his body of work demands recognition and his current form warrants elevation to the global stage.

When asked about his goals for the year, Pompet made his ambitions crystal clear.

The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative concluded:

“My goal for this year is crystal clear, I want the ONE Championship contract and to compete on the global stage. I’ve had 11 fights in this promotion, and I always bring the heat. I’ve paid my dues, my form is peaking, and I want to keep this winning streak going all through the year.”
