The world’s largest martial arts organization returns to the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, October 10, for another action-packed installment of its weekly Asia primetime event series.
ONE Friday Fights 128 features 12 compelling matchups across Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA, with numerous athletes vying for a life-changing US$100,000 contract and a spot on ONE Championship’s main roster.
In the headline attraction, Scotland’s Stephen Irvine faces Thailand’s Rambong Sor Therapat in a 130-pound Muay Thai clash between two resilient fighters who have overcome tremendous hardship to reach this stage.
The 25-year-old Irvine started training at just 6 years old after his father took him to the gym. After dominating the European junior scene with over 100 amateur fights, he’s now chasing his dream of following his teammate Nico Carrillo‘s path to ONE Championship glory. Riding a four-fight winning streak at ONE Friday Fights, “El Matador” brings his elusive technical style and devastating elbows into this crucial matchup.
Standing across from him will be the 28-year-old Rambong, whose story embodies the transformative power of martial arts. Growing up so poor that his family of gardeners had to ask neighbors for food, Rambong used his fight earnings to put himself through university, earning a sports science degree.
After his seven-fight winning streak was snapped, the southpaw pressure fighter is determined to reclaim his momentum and secure the contract that would change his family’s life forever.
In the co-main event, Singdomthong Nokjeanladkrabang squares off with Sanit Aekmuangnon in a 129-pound Muay Thai bout between two Thai warriors carrying the weight of family legacy.
The 25-year-old Singdomthong represents the last active fighter from a remarkable Muay Thai dynasty — 13 family members including his father, uncles, aunts, and siblings have all competed in the sport. Now training at Nokjeanladkrabang, the world-class technician wants to use this platform to give his parents a better quality of life. After his five-fight winning streak was snapped by a devastating knockout, Singdomthong seeks redemption.
For his part, the 30-year-old Sanit carries his own burden of legacy. The only active fighter remaining from his village after his gym closed, Sanit fights to support his two young children — a 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Coming off three consecutive knockout victories, the aggressive clinch specialist enters this bout with serious momentum.
Also featured on the card, Duangdawnoi faces Australian Kim Townsend in a highly anticipated 107-pound Muay Thai rematch after Townsend claimed a split-decision victory in their first encounter outside of the promotion.
Duangdawnoi comes from one of Thailand’s most famous Muay Thai families. She’s one of 16 children, all of whom have fought at least once. Her siblings include undefeated professional boxer Sangarthit Looksaikongdin and Aida, who is married to former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon. The crafty technical fighter excels on the back foot with devastating elbows.
Meanwhile, Townsend enters riding an incredible 17-fight winning streak that includes four Muay Thai World Championships. The Australian “Lil K” brings her poised technical style and strong kicking game into the rematch, looking to prove her first victory was no fluke.
The international flavor continues with already-contracted Thai phenom Payakrut Suajantokmuaythai taking on Morocco’s Abdessamie Rhenimi in strawweight Muay Thai action. The 19-year-old Payakrut overcame childhood asthma through Muay Thai training and earned a university scholarship through his fighting achievements. The 2024 Road to ONE: Thailand winner now represents the next generation of Thai striking excellence.
In featherweight MMA, Russia’s Evgenii Antonov battles Azerbaijan’s Suleyman Suleymanov in a grappling-heavy clash. The 32-year-old “Sultan” Suleymanov seeks to bounce back after his 10-fight winning streak was snapped.
