‘Everything Looks Amazing’ – Helena Crevar Reveals Why She Signed With ONE Championship

Helena Crevar‘s meteoric rise through the grappling world has brought her to the platform she has long hoped to reach.

After years of training under elite coaches and testing herself against top-tier opponents, the 18-year-old American standout is now set for her ONE Championship debut.

On Friday, January 23, she’ll step into Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium for ONE Fight Night 39 on Prime Video, where she’ll face Hawaii’s Teshya Noelani Alo in a bantamweight submission grappling contest.

The matchup marks ONE’s first U.S. primetime event of 2026 and the initial step in Crevar’s long-awaited journey on the global stage.

For the teenager who moved to Texas at age 15 to train under the legendary John Danaher, this moment represents her first walk into an arena she has admired for years.

She said:

“I’ve been watching ONE for a few years now, and I watched my teammates Garry [Tonon] and Giancarlo [Bodoni] compete on it as well.

“I really like the show. I think it’s the best one out there because it has different sports like MMA, submission grappling, Muay Thai, and things like that, and it’s a super big crowd, and the venue and everything looks amazing. So, when I got the opportunity [to join ONE], I was really excited to take it.”

There have been incredible expectations placed on Crevar’s shoulders.

Before even signing with the world’s largest martial arts organization, she had already claimed major titles, earned a black belt under Danaher, and reached the ADCC podium at just 17 years old, the youngest person ever to accomplish the historic feat.

That run earned her the rare label of “generational talent.” While some individuals would feel overwhelmed by that description, Crevar chooses to embrace it rather than fear it.

She said:

“It really inspires me to do more. It’s not really a burden to me. It just motivates me to do even more, and it’s really humbling.”

Crevar Breaks Down Her Style & Shares Her Vision For The Future

As Helena Crevar prepares for her first promotional appearance at ONE Fight Night 39 in January 23, she provides the global fan base a taste of what they can expect.

The teen sensation brings a style built around constant forward action. She has forged her name by pushing the pace, attacking from every angle, and denying opponents any room to settle.

Crevar said:

“My style is attacking the whole time. I always try to put the game in my favor. Whatever position I’m in, I just attack, get control, and then get the submission.”

That all-offensive approach fits naturally with the Global Submission Grappling Rule Set, which is used in ONE Championship.

For Crevar, who has spent years competing in fast-paced no-gi formats, the structure rewards the exact qualities she relies on most.

The American said:

“ONE’s rule set is a straight 10-minute round and submission only, so that is my favorite rule set. It has been since I started competing in no-gi.

“I really love it because it forces both of us to go for it in the match. There are no points or penalties. We both have to try to submit each other.”

And while her promotional debut is the immediate focus, Crevar is already looking ahead to the future.

With major titles across IBJJF, Polaris, and CJI already on her resume, she now wants to build something long-lasting in ONE Championship.

Crevar said:

“I definitely want to compete pretty often and maybe in the future go for a title, either at 145 or 155 [pounds], and really solidify a name for myself there.”
