For Gabriela “Gabi” Fujimoto, martial arts has never been a solitary pursuit. Every step of her career carries her family’s fingerprints, providing a shield that has anchored her since childhood.
That support system now travels with her into her next crucial test. The 23-year-old Brazilian phenom returns to the ring against Macarena Aragon, looking to bounce back in a women’s atomweight MMA clash at ONE Fight Night 47 on Prime Video.
The highly anticipated event broadcasts live in U.S. primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this Friday, September 4.
Born in Mogi das Cruzes, Fujimoto proudly calls her parents Sansei, honoring their heritage as third-generation Japanese descendants in Brazil. Her father introduced her to karate at just four years old, setting her on a lifelong path that eventually prompted the regional champion to relocate to Rio de Janeiro to refine her craft.
While MMA is often considered an individual battle fought alone in the gym and inside the ring, Fujimoto has never known it that way. Her family’s presence remains woven into every high and low of her journey.
The São Paulo native explained:
“My relationship with my family is incredible and very unique. They have supported me from the very beginning, and they have built this journey with me.
“My father, my mother, my brother, and I have always shared the same dream, and I’m very proud to honor that.”
