5 Reasons To Get Excited About Victoria Lee

ONE Championship signee Victoria Lee

Victoria Lee sent shockwaves through the mixed martial arts community last week by signing on the dotted line with ONE Championship.

The 16-year-old martial arts prodigy received the highest of praise from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who called her “arguably the single greatest pound-for-pound female prospect in the world today.”

That alone will make Lee a can’t-miss athlete when she steps into the Circle, but there are plenty of other reasons to get excited about the burgeoning star.

#1 World Championship DNA

Angela Lee and Christian Lee with their ONE Championship belts at ONE: CENTURY

Victoria’s older siblings have already set a gold standard in mixed martial arts, as “Unstoppable” Angela Lee and Christian “The Warrior” Lee are both reigning ONE World Champions.

In May 2016, Angela became the youngest Mixed Martial Arts World Champion in history by capturing the inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title at ONE: ASCENT TO POWER. Then in May 2019, Christian claimed his own throne at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON by winning the ONE Lightweight World Championship.

That success means Victoria will have a standard of excellence to live up to when she makes her debut, but the outstanding young talent is certainly on the right path.

Whenever that debut takes place, fans will find out if a third Lee sibling is ready to continue the family legacy and embark on her own journey toward a ONE World Title.

#2 Incredible Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Many athletes go their entire career without ever taking first place at a competition or winning a medal. Meanwhile, Lee has already achieved incredible success, becoming a 15-time NAGA Expert Champion.

Those ground skills will only improve over time as she continues to train with the likes of her brother-in-law, Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci, who just happens to be a two-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi World Champion.

To say Lee’s a force to be reckoned with on the canvas is probably an understatement. The youngster is still maturing and learning her craft. If she’s a force now, she will soon be as unstoppable as her older sister.

#3 Dominant Wrestling

In her sophomore year during 2020, Lee was the top seed in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Championships. She proved that seeding correct with a sensational performance to capture the state title.

In fact, Lee needed less than two minutes to pin her opponent.

As seen in the video above, Lee dropped her adversary to the mat with a beautiful outside leg trip and immediately worked toward the pin. She then isolated her opponent’s right arm and applied tremendous pressure from the top to pin it to the mat.

It was a display of superior technique, allowing Lee to secure the state title without breaking a sweat.

#4 International Experience

Most 16-year-olds only compete locally and regionally, but Lee has already traveled around the globe and competed on the international scene.

That includes becoming a two-time Pankration Junior World Champion. She also competed in Rome, Italy, where she picked up gold in the 57-kilogram weight division at the 2019 IMMAF Youth World Championships.

The experience will prove invaluable when the phenom eventually steps foot into The Home Of Martial Arts, as Lee has shown she can capture a World Championship outside of her comfort zone.

#5 She Was Born For This

Lee’s individual skill set is staggering for her age, which she has consistently proven throughout her young career. And even more impressive is that she’s already an expert at blending those skills into mixed martial arts.

Many fighters have failed to combine the individual skills of striking and grappling, but Lee has already spent years sharpening the intricacies of being a well-rounded martial artist. She is simply a natural.

Surrounded by World Champions at United MMA, Lee is far ahead of the curve and accomplished beyond her years. This is what she was put on Earth to do, and sooner rather than later, she will make everyone a witness to her greatness.
