EFC Welterweight Champion Islam Sayed first started training in mixed martial arts in 2013, after coming across the Egyptian Top Team’s page on Facebook. He immediately settled in at the world-renowned camp in Cairo, and began training alongside a number of ONE Championship veterans such as Hesham Hiba and Mahmoud Salama.
Although Sayed was defeated in the first round of his professional debut in early 2014, he learned a lot from the experience. It would be over a year until he competed again, but when the Egyptian stepped into the cage for the second time, he was a completely different martial artist. Sayed would go on to win his next three professional bouts, stopping every single opponent inside the opening round, even capturing a title in the Egyptian Fighting Championship.
This earned him a place on the ONE Championship roster, and he remains on an unending quest to make his nation and family proud through international success.
