Two-time Muay Thai World Champion Istela Nunes and Japanese World Champion Mei Yamaguchi took part in a competitive striking matchup at ONE: HEROES OF THE WORLD in Macau. Both women were very measured on the feet, but Nunes may have gotten the better of the exchanges with an array of hard kicks and knees. The difference proved to be Nunes’ ability to escape the clutches of Yamaguchi’s world-class ground game, allowing the Brazilian prodigy to emerge victorious with the split decision.
