‘Stronger, Harder-Hitting Version’ – Tomyamkoong Promises To Showcase Refined Skill Set Against Bejenuta Maximus At ONE Friday Fights 149
Fresh off a devastating one-punch knockout win, Thai striker Tomyamkoong Bhumjaithai is determined to make it two consecutive spectacular finishes when he welcomes Moldovan Bejenuta Maximus to ONE in a flyweight Muay Thai main event.
The pair collide at ONE Friday Fights 149 on Friday, April 3, broadcasting live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s historic Lumpinee Stadium.
The Surin native brings 126 career victories into this matchup. His promotional journey began with adversity. Two consecutive losses forced him to reassess his approach and make significant adjustments to his game.
Tomyamkoong bounced back with two consecutive victories, capped by a statement performance, flatlining compatriot Watcharaphon Singha Mawynn with a devastating one-punch knockout.
He said:
“Following those two losses, I went back and completely overhauled my game. I focused heavily on my defense and sharpening my weapons, and it paid off with two back-to-back wins.”
That work has produced a more dangerous fighter. Now Tomyamkoong faces a new challenge in the 24-year-old Maximus, who represents Team Mehdi Zatout and Fight Club Garuda with a 14-3 record featuring six finishes. The Moldovan is known for crafty footwork and sharp combinations.
He told onefc.com:
“I’m stoked to finally get a crack at an international fighter. I’ve wanted to test myself against one for a long time. Even though this is the first time in my life facing a non-Thai, I’m surprisingly not nervous at all. I’ve prepared well and I know I have a major edge under Muay Thai rules.
“From what I’ve studied, Bejenuta is more of a kickboxing stylist — his hands are dangerous, but I haven’t seen much else from him in terms of traditional Muay Thai weapons.”
Tomyamkoong believes the rule set favors his complete Muay Thai arsenal against a kickboxer who relies on punching combinations. Maximus’ hands are a threat, but he sees gaps in the Moldovan’s knee, elbow, and clinch game to exploit.
He understands that continued success positions him for the six-figure contract that would transform his career.
He said:
“If I can keep the win streak going, there’s definitely a chance to earn that ONE contract. Fans are going to see a stronger, harder-hitting version of me in this fight than ever before.”
Tomyamkoong Plans To Overwhelm Maximus With Relentless Pressure
Tomyamkoong Bhumjaithai has a clear blueprint for defeating Bejenuta Maximus.
He recognizes that Maximus’s reach could prove problematic if he allows the Moldovan to fight at a distance. His game plan centers on sustained pressure that prevents Maximus from establishing comfortable range or rhythm, gradually depleting his opponent’s gas tank while accumulating damage through his arsenal.
He said:
“For this fight, I’m going to avoid staying on the outside to minimize his reach advantage. I’ll use my work rate to press forward and take the fight inside. The goal is to shut down his weapons and just outwork him until he gases out. If I stick to the plan, I’m confident I’ll get the win.”
Beyond securing victory, Tomyamkoong has bigger ambitions for his main event debut. He wants to make a statement that sends shockwaves through the flyweight Muay Thai division, and finishing an international opponent in his first main event appearance would do exactly that.
He said:
“It’s going to be an absolute war because I’ll be the one moving forward the whole time. My goal isn’t just to win; I want to finish him and make it two KOs in a row. Since this is my first time headlining a ONE Friday Fights card, knocking out a foreign opponent would really put my name on the map. It’ll help me get those consistent fights I’m aiming for.”
