ONE Friday Fights 151 Co-Main Event Result: Petmuangsri Bests Chankrit In Flyweight Muay Thai Masterclass

Petmuangsri Torfunfarm Chankrit Manop Gym ONE Friday Fights 151 3

Petmuangsri Torfunfarm showed why he is one of the division’s most complete fighters, knocking down Chankrit Manop Gym in the first round of their flyweight Muay Thai war en route to a unanimous decision triumph in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 151.

The opening round of this Asia primetime showcase inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, April 24, was a technical chess match between two muay femurs who knew each other’s game inside out. Chankrit tracked Petmuangsri around the ring like a shadow while the 22-year-old took his time setting up his attacks.

A left hook shook Chankrit up, and before he could recover, Petmuangsri threw a teep and immediately skipped into a right high kick that floored his opponent. The Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion beat the eight-count, but the damage was done.

The second round saw Chankrit adjust intelligently, closing the distance whenever Petmuangsri loaded up the high kick and smothering the weapon before it could land. The 29-year-old stayed on top of his opponent around the ring, neutralizing Petmuangsri’s range and making it a scrappier affair. But the latter had too many tools.

In the third frame, he evaded the 22-year-old’s punches, banging his shins into his opponent’s back and legs while riding the wave of the first-round knockdown. Then, he retreated to the counter game and picked Chankrit off from all angles until the final bell.

With the victory over a decorated Muay Thai World Champion, Petmuangsri nudged his record to 60-19.
