ONE Friday Fights 147 Co-Main Event Result: Pompet Storms Back To Stop Jaosuayai
Pompet PongSuphan PK turned the tide with a stunning third-round finish, stopping Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi via TKO at 2:25 of round three in the co-main event flyweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Friday Fights 147.
Jaosuayai looked every bit the aggressor in the opening round of their battle on March 20, which emanated live in Asia primetime inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 24-year-old Thai planted himself in the pocket and unloaded hooks and rights that pinned Pompet against the ropes, following up with leaping knee attacks and spinning kicks that kept the 27-year-old on the back foot and unable to find an answer.
The second frame, however, offered a different story. Pompet stopped retreating and began pushing forward, unfazed by Jaosuayai’s punches. He pressed his opponent against the ropes and forced him into a wild, scrapping clinch battle — two fighters refusing to give an inch, trading in close quarters with neither willing to yield.
Pompet saved his best for last. He stormed across the ring in the third and pinned Jaosuayai against the ropes, unleashing a two-minute barrage of lefts, rights, and uppercuts that crashed through the Thai’s guard and left him hunched over, held up only by his heart. The referee had seen enough and stepped in to wave it off.
With the finish, Pompet scored his 110th victory, delivering one of the most dramatic comebacks on the card and reminding the flyweight division that his experience is a weapon all its own.
