ONE Friday Fights 138 Results: Ayad Albadr Floors Chartpayak En Route To Fourth Straight Win
Iraqi standout Ayad “The Matrix” Albadr extended his winning streak to four in a row with a masterful performance over Thai slugger Chartpayak Saksatoon in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 138.
The strawweight Muay Thai showdown produced a frantic, back-and-forth war on Friday, January 16, live in Asia primetime from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
When Chartpayak unleashed a kick in the opening round, Albadr caught it and executed a sweep. The 24-year-old Iraqi followed with a right cross that briefly staggered his Thai rival. From there, the two brawlers traded sharp elbows at close range.
The decisive moment, however, came in the second round. Albadr threw a high kick that the Kiatpet man evaded, but the spinning elbow that followed caught the Thai off guard and dropped him for an eight count.
Chartpayak rose immediately, though, and the knockdown only fueled his urgency as he pushed forward with punches and elbows. He continued to hunt with high kicks, but “The Matrix’s” elusive head movement prevented him from landing anything cleanly.
The Thai slugger pressed on in the third stanza behind a crimson mask, firing body kicks and punches as he applied pressure. He created angles and looked to have momentarily troubled the Team Mehdi Zatout athlete.

But Albadr’s technical excellence and dexterity allowed him to rediscover his rhythm. The young star turned the match on its head behind perfectly timed combinations and a wicked body shot just before the final bell rang.
Ultimately, the Iraqi’s knockdown in the second round proved decisive. He left the “Madison Square Garden of the East” with a unanimous decision victory, which improved his overall record to 19-5.
