‘I’m Looking Forward To It’ – Eduardo Granzotto Confident He Can Beat Fabricio Andrey Again At ONE Fight Night 36

Eduardo Granzotto

ONE Championship newcomer Eduardo Granzotto has already beaten one of the most dynamic grapplers on the planet in Fabricio “Hokage” Andrey. And the 22-year-old is confident he can do it again in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

The Brazilian grappling savant shocked the BJJ realm when he eliminated the heavily favored Andrey at the 2025 IBJJF World Championships earlier this year.

On Friday, October 3, live in U.S. primetime, Granzotto will get his chance to prove lightning can strike twice when he faces “Hokage” in a bantamweight submission grappling rematch at ONE Fight Night 36: Prajanchai vs. Di Bella II on Prime Video from Bangkok, Thailand.

Granzotto entered as a massive underdog against Andrey at the IBJJF worlds, his opponent a force to be reckoned with in the elite ranks. “Hokage” possessed every advantage in their matchup – he had the superior ranking, more experience, and a deadlier reputation.

But when the dust settled, the young CheckMat product had authored one of the sport’s most stunning upsets. Granzotto remained composed under Andrey’s signature pressure before capitalizing on defensive opportunities to score crucial points.

The world wrote him off, but Granzotto’s team never wavered in their belief. What others called a shocking upset, he knew was destiny finally unfolding.

The Rio de Janeiro native reflected on his career-defining triumph:

“This was certainly one of the great victories I’ve achieved in my career. I worked a lot on my preparation to raise my technical level for this great day. The main plan was to perform well and feel happy fighting, and it worked.

“For the public and some media platforms, it was a surprise, but not for me and my team. We knew the ways to win, and we worked really well so that it would happen again [in the rematch].”

Having already conquered his rival once, Granzotto enters his debut on the global stage of ONE with supreme confidence heading into their second dance.

His game plan remains unchanged – use methodical guard work to neutralize Andrey’s electric attacks and create opportunities to sweep and throw up submissions.

But the CheckMat warrior also hints at a few fresh aces up his sleeve:

“Understanding the right time for each decision during the fight is very important. For each attack, a defense, and an answer. Understanding that I must impose my style in the fight, too.

“I know how to deal well with scrambles and many surprise attacks. I’ve been training a lot in new attacks to surprise him. My Jiu-Jitsu will always be seeking victory in high-performance [situations].”

Granzotto acknowledges this rematch will differ significantly under ONE’s unique submission grappling rule set, eliminating the gi grips that previously helped him control pacing. The format undoubtedly favors Andrey’s electric style, but the young Brazilian remains unfazed.

He’s done it once and is ready to prove it was no fluke by beating Andrey at his own game a second time:

“Grappling no-gi and gi complete each other. The rules change, but jiu-jitsu is the same. I can’t wait for the show.

“The main thing is to believe and trust in myself, in what I trained, and the whole journey that brought me to this moment. I know I’m capable of doing this again, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Granzotto Says Joining ONE Championship Is A Dream Come True

Eduardo Granzotto knows a huge victory at ONE Fight Night 36: Prajanchai vs. Di Bella II will open massive doors. A second win over Fabricio Andrey wouldn’t just settle their rivalry – it would cement his status among the elite.

As the CheckMat product dreams of one day becoming a ONE World Champion, he is also motivated to take home the coveted US$50,000 performance bonus, which inspires him to hunt for a highlight-reel finish.

The 22-year-old told onefc.com:

“Nothing less than the best, I want to be able to always be fighting for the organization. Exciting fights and facing challenges are what move me to do this. For sure, I will be able to climb up to the belt one day.

“I really want this bonus for myself. I’m going for the submission, and I’m sure of what I’m capable of doing. This bonus will be mine.”

Granzotto has been grinding relentlessly while waiting for his breakthrough moment.

When the call came from the world’s largest martial arts organization, the Ricardo Vieira student didn’t hesitate. This golden opportunity represents everything he’s sacrificed for, and he refuses to let it slip away.

For the young warrior who once shocked the world, this is just the beginning:

“I’ve always been a fan of watching the fights at ONE Championship, and being able to be part of the event [makes me] very happy. The recognition that the organization brings to the athletes is something great, I’m really very excited.

“Certainly a gigantic opportunity to be part of this organization. A dream come true, and I’m very happy about it. It’s a feeling of following the right path and reaping good fruits for a bright future.”
