Hyu And Suablack Clash In Flyweight Kickboxing Showdown At ONE Fight Night 41
ONE Fight Night 41 on Prime Video is starting to shape up following the addition of an exciting flyweight kickboxing battle between Japanese buzzsaw Hyu and Thai knockout machine Suablack Tor Pran49.
Airing live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, March 13, the developing card also features ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo’s title defense against Polish sensation Pawel Jaworski.
At just 23 years old, Hyu has emerged as one of the most mesmerizing young talents in ONE Championship’s talent-loaded striking ranks.
The Osaka native carries a perfect 12-0 professional record built on a karate foundation that makes him unlike anyone else in the division. His flashy yet fundamentally sound style blends his karate roots with modern kickboxing precision, producing spectacular techniques like rolling thunder and spinning back kicks.
Fans caught a glimpse of his incredible potential in his promotional debut, where he outpointed Youcef Saad via unanimous decision at ONE Friday Fights 81.
From there, the Team Mehdi Zatout standout flashed his killer instinct, stopping Leandro “Gorilla” Miranda with a second-round TKO at ONE Friday Fights 96. He followed that with a thunderous first-round knee knockout of divisional mainstay Zakaria El Jamari at ONE 172.
His next outing, however, put the entire flyweight kickboxing division on notice.
Against fellow unbeaten star Jordan Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 35, Hyu showed incredible reflexes and grit to weather the Colombian’s heavy hands. He then turned the tide, handing Estupinan his first career defeat with a marvelous third-round TKO that earned him a US$50,000 performance bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
But looking to derail his momentum is a dangerous Thai veteran hungry for redemption.
Suablack makes his flyweight debut after competing at bantamweight. The 29-year-old raced to a perfect 6-0 start in the world’s largest martial arts organization, earning a coveted six-figure contract along the way.
However, a rough three-fight skid against elite competition forced the Thai veteran back to the drawing board. He returned a more refined fighter, displaying improved patience and tighter defense.
Those adjustments paid dividends against young phenom Sangarthit Looksaikongdin, whom he defeated via clinical unanimous decision at ONE Friday Fights 114. He then followed that with a dominant three-round beatdown of Thai legend “The Man Who Yields To No One” Seksan Or Kwanmuang at ONE Friday Fights 126.
Suablack was initially slated to make his flyweight debut against Johan “Panda Kick” Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 37 last November, but illness forced him to withdraw. Instead, he returned at ONE Friday Fights 137 as a late replacement against Pakorn PK Saenchai, falling short via decision.
Now, he looks to reinvent himself in a new division, while Hyu aims to cement his status as a legitimate ONE World Title contender by toppling a respected veteran.
Only one man will take a step closer to 26 pounds of gold when the bell tolls in Bangkok on March 13.
