Heavyweight MMA King “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane Welcomes IShowSpeed To Senegal With Traditional Wrestling Lesson
ONE Heavyweight MMA World Champion “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane welcomed viral internet sensation IShowSpeed to Africa, the Senegalese way.
The pride of Senegal linked up with the famous YouTuber and streamer, who is currently touring 20 African nations for his “Speed Does Africa” series, during a stop in Dakar. The ONE World Champion indulged the American in the wonders of mbapatte, a traditional Senegalese martial art also known as Laamb.
Before Kane became the world’s best heavyweight MMA fighter, he was one of the greatest to ever compete in the ancient discipline. His collaboration with Speed showcased this centuries-old combat sport to the online personality’s massive global audience of nearly 50 million subscribers.
“Reug Reug” and Speed, accompanied by their entourages, descended upon the sandy pit as massive crowds gathered to witness the spectacle. Fans roared with anticipation, watching two colossal personalities from different worlds collide in celebration of Senegalese culture.
Before the action commenced, the heavyweight MMA king and his crew performed the pre-fight Sabar dance rooted in tradition. They moved to the infectious rhythm of drums echoing across the sand — the same energetic celebration “Reug Reug” proudly displays on ONE Championship’s global stage.
The Senegalese standout proceeded to teach Speed fundamental techniques from his arsenal. The American streamer picked up the movements quickly, displaying an impressive back take that drew cheers from the assembled masses.
Then, Speed put his newfound skills to immediate use, competing in an impromptu match against a local wrestler. He performed a throw that sent the crowd into a frenzy as he celebrated alongside his towering instructor.
Kane was scheduled to defend his ONE Heavyweight MMA World Title against two-division king Anatoly “Sladkiy” Malykhin in a highly anticipated rematch at ONE 173 in Tokyo last November. Unfortunately, that bout was postponed after Kane suffered injuries in a car accident.
With the reigning champion on the path to recovery, the hulking rivals are expected to settle their unfinished business sometime in 2026.
