Full Card Revealed For ONE Friday Fights 152 On May 1
The world’s largest martial arts organization returns to Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this Friday, May 1, and fans tuning in live in Asia primetime can expect a stacked night of martial arts action.
ONE Friday Fights 152 airs just days after the historic ONE SAMURAI 1 — which airs on live.onefc.com on Wednesday, April 29 — and features nine bouts across Muay Thai and MMA, with all but one athlete on the card hunting a coveted US$100,000 contract and spot on ONE’s global roster.
In the main event, former 140-pound Omnoi Stadium Muay Thai Champion Kongklai Sor Sommai puts his three-fight winning streak on the line against experienced Brazilian finisher Julio Lobo in a bantamweight Muay Thai showdown.
The 27-year-old Kongklai is one of the most powerful southpaws in the division. He lost his first 10 professional fights before turning his career around with an 18-fight winning streak that featured 15 knockouts — and he has not looked back since.
The 2020 Sports Authority of Thailand Fighter of the Year, Kongklai has built a reputation as a one-punch knockout threat who can end the fight at any moment with his thunderous straight left.
Across from him, the 31-year-old Lobo has carved out a career as one of the few foreign fighters in Thailand to excel in the clinch.
The Brazilian began training Muay Thai at 13 and made the move to Thailand on the advice of his coach, going on to claim the 140-pound Omnoi Stadium title along the way. He fights for the future of his 10-year-old son Gustavo and heads into Friday off the back of a victory over a previously red-hot Worapon Lukjaoporongtom.
In the co-main event, Panrit Lukjaomaesaiwaree and Krisana Dowdenmuaythai run it back in a bantamweight Muay Thai rematch with plenty at stake for both men.
The 29-year-old Panrit is a career warrior who started fighting professionally at just 5 years old, guided by his older brother and close family friend Superbon, the current ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion.
With 30 knockout wins to his name and a ferocious pressure style built around powerful body kicks and relentless clinch work, the Superbon Training Camp product heads into the rematch determined to even the score.
Standing in his way is the 25-year-old Krisana, who claimed a unanimous decision victory over Panrit at ONE Friday Fights 131 and arrives on a three-fight winning streak. The Dowden Muay Thai product is a smooth technician with a sharp left body kick and precise elbow work, and will look to prove his first win was no fluke on Friday night.
In other action, contracted ONE athlete Natalia Diachkova — a 10x Russian Muay Thai National Champion — makes her return to the ring against Thailand’s Fahsai in a strawweight Muay Thai tilt. Face Erawan takes on promotional newcomer Payakmuangsing PK Saenchai in strawweight Muay Thai, while Petchakrit Gavingym locks horns with Singsuek Sakanupong in another strawweight Muay Thai matchup.
Suajan Sor Isarachot and Arsoonnoi Sitjasing collide in flyweight Muay Thai, Tepkamin ThanapolResort faces Myanmar’s Dawit T1 Fight Academy in strawweight Muay Thai, and two debutants — Petsamart Muangphaphum and Jaipet Phacharagym — square off in a strawweight Muay Thai clash. Slimen Hassaini of Algeria and Japan’s Go Todoroki open the card in featherweight MMA.
