Venture capital firm Sequoia India and investment vehicle Mission Holdings have acquired significant shareholdings in the One Championship Asian mixed martial arts series.
Chatri Sityodtong, the championship’s chairman and chief executive, said the Series C investments mean that the series has raised more than $100m (€87m) in funding since its launch six years ago.

ONE Championship has secured a major equity investment from venture capital firm Sequoia India and investment firm Mission Holdings, positioning the ascendant mixed martial arts promotion to increase its presence throughout Asia.

Earlier today, ONE Championship, an Asian sports media company, announced they’ve just secured equity investment from Sequoia Capital, which now brings their total funding to $100 million USD.

When Chatri Sityodtong started ONE Championship in 2011, he set out to create Asia’s first multi-billion dollar sports media property. It has now come one step closer to its goal with the announcement that it has secured a significant equity investment led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm, Sequoia, through its India unit (Sequoia India) and Singapore-based Mission Holdings. With this new round of investments, ONE Championship’s total capital raised now stands at $100 million. The company projects that in 12-18 months, it will cross the $1 billion valuation mark.

SINGAPORE – Singapore mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter May Ooi has signed on with One Championship and will make her debut at the One: Quest For Greatness in Kuala Lumpur. The deal was announced on Monday (July 10).
