ONE 164: Pacio vs. Brooks capped off another undeniably stellar year for ONE Championship.
From top to bottom, the December 3 spectacle at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, delivered exciting clashes, knockout endings, and slick submission finishes.
In the main event, Jarred Brooks pushed the pace in a five-round banger with former ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio, ultimately dethroning the long-time titleholder by unanimous decision to capture the coveted gold.
Ushering in that matchup was the incredible eighth Muay Thai meeting between long-time flyweight rivals Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Panpayak Jitmuangnon. Top-ranked contender Superlek used his masterful right kicks to earn his third victory over #2-ranked Panpayak by split decision.
Finally, former ONE Heavyweight World Champion and Filipino superstar Brandon Vera announced his retirement from MMA after falling short to Amir Aliakbari. “The Truth” may not have taken home the victory, but he passed the torch to the Iranian heavyweight, who could be nearing World Title contention.
