3 Fast Facts You Must Know About Undefeated Russian MMA Star Ibragim Dauev

Ibragim Dauev

Ibragim Dauev is less than a week away from his highly anticipated ONE Championship debut.

This Friday, January 12, the Russian plans to make an instant impact on the global stage when he faces surging veteran Mark “Tyson” Abelardo in a bantamweight MMA showdown at ONE Fight Night 18 on Prime Video, which broadcasts live in U.S. primetime from the world-famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

For Dauev, this is his chance to take out a respected superstar and assert his presence in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

And if the 22-year-old emerges victorious and defeats Abelardo in impressive fashion, he could possibly earn a spot in the top-five bantamweight MMA rankings.

Before he makes the walk to the ring this Friday, here’s three fast facts you need to know about the Russian phenom.

#1 He Trains At Anatoly Malykhin’s Gym

The Russia native comes from a championship pedigree.

In preparation for his clash with Abelardo, Dauev has relocated to Phuket, Thailand, where he trains at Dobrynya Martial Arts Academy – the gym home of reigning ONE Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight MMA World Champion Anatoly Malykhin.

#2 He Turned Pro At 18

Although he’s just 22 years old, Dauev is already an experienced mixed martial artist.

He made his professional MMA debut back in 2019 at the age of 18. Since then, he has shined on Russia’s ultra-tough regional circuit.

#3 He Is Unbeaten As A Pro

Dauev is a winner, having compiled a flawless 8-0 professional record. What’s more, fans can expect fireworks each and every time he competes.

With dangerous skills both on the feet and the canvas, the Russian has proven to be a ruthless finisher. To date, he has collected highlight-reel stoppages in all but one of his victories.
