Steve “The Smashing Machine” McKinnon

Originally from Scotland, WBC Muay Thai Super Cruiserweight World Champion Steve McKinnon is a lifelong martial artist. He started his martial arts journey with Shotokan Karate at the age of 4, training at his father’s dojo in Sydney after the family moved to Australia.

McKinnon then earned his black belt in the traditional Japanese disicipline when he was 12 years old and began adding Muay Thai to his skill-set, setting a goal as a teenager to become a World Champion. McKinnon achieved that goal eight times over, winning multiple prestigious World Titles under Muay Thai, K-1, and kickboxing rules.

McKinnon trains at Bulldog Gym along with his brother Stuart and trainer Nick Stone. He possesses a potent style based on kicks, elbows, and heavy hands that he has developed from a weakness into a strength. A powerful striker, McKinnon has knocked out his opponent in the vast majority of his wins.
