About Vero
Vero “The Kayan Leopard” Nika has fought her way from a tiny village in Shan State to the biggest stage in martial arts – and the Myanmar striking sensation is only getting started.
Every step of that climb has been earned the hard way. Born in East Kahpu, north of Mobye, she was the fifth of six children. With her father ill, she rose early to help her mother make ends meet, even if it meant missing class.
At 16, she found her calling in combat sports. Her parents disapproved, but Vero borrowed money and set off for Naypyidaw with little more than a dream. Within a year, she faced an impossible choice between school and the sport she loved.
She chose to fight – and never looked back. Vero struck national boxing gold and represented Myanmar at the 2015 SEA Games, then turned to Lethwei in 2017 and became the country’s champion.
But fights were scarce at home, and when the pandemic struck, she took work as a trainer in Yangon. There, a chance connection opened the door to Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand, and that’s when everything changed.
She stormed the Thai Fight circuit, winning back-to-back Kard Chuek Titles, climbing to the #1 spot in the World Muay Thai Organization’s 53-kilogram rankings, and earning its 2022 Female Fighter of the Year award.
Her rise was impossible to ignore. In January 2025, ONE Championship handed the Myanmar slugger the chance of a lifetime.
Vero’s journey began in heartbreak with a split-decision loss at ONE Friday Fights 97. But “The Kayan Leopard” answered back the only way she knows how: by rattling off four straight wins at Lumpinee Stadium, capped by a stunning upset of former K-1 Champion Kana “Krusher Queen” Morimoto.
Those victories have earned her a spot on the global roster of ONE Championship. More importantly, they have catapulted her into the upper echelons of the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing divisions.
Vero fights for her family, for the Kayan people, and for every young dreamer back home, and she won’t stop until she inspires a nation by bringing ONE World Title gold to Myanmar.
