Two-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu No Gi World Champion Bruno Pucci of Brazil did not have an easy start in life. He needed hormone replacement therapy as a child, because he had growth problems and was shorter and weaker than other children his age. The treatment made him overweight, so he wanted to take up a sport in an effort to slim down.
He tried several activities before deciding to switch his focus to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, after becoming interested through playing video games. Pucci was 13 years old when he took his first BJJ lesson, and from then on, he would train every single day, entering the State Championships three months later and coming in second. In 2009, he reached the pinnacle of his grappling career when he won gold at the No Gi Grappling World Championship two years in a row. Pucci went on to earn a black belt in BJJ, and in 2011, he made his professional cage debut.
After a pair of impressive wins, he moved to Singapore to be a part of the famed Evolve Fight Team in Singapore. That quickly led to his ONE Championship debut, where he rapidly established a reputation as one of the most devastating grapplers in ONE Championship’s featherweight division, with all of his wins to date coming by way of stoppage.
