Woo Sung Hoon Debuts With 18-Second Knockout Of Yodkaikaew Fairtex

Woo Sung Hoon celebrates knockout of Yodkaikaew Fairtex at ONE: BAD BLOOD

“Dynamic” Woo Sung Hoon came into his ONE Championship debut riding a seven-fight winning streak that featured six knockout wins. And at ONE: BAD BLOOD, he nudged both of those statistics up a digit.

The South Korean scored the second-fastest KO in the history of ONE’s flyweight mixed martial arts division by putting away Thai striker Yodkaikaew “Y2K” Fairtex just 18 seconds into their battle on Friday, 11 February.

As expected, Yodkaikaew came charging forward with left kicks that careened into his opponent’s leg and body.

But on the Thai’s next attempt at launching his limb, “Dynamic” pivoted into a short left hook and then rotated back into an overhand right.

That powerful strike hit the reset button on “Y2K’s” jaw and dropped him where he stood. Woo jumped in for two more punches, and referee Olivier Coste stepped in to call off the bout.

Woo’s sensational finish lifted his record to 9-2 and shook up the already loaded flyweight MMA division.

He’s the latest Team Mad representative from South Korea to make an impact in ONE, joining reigning lightweight king Ok Rae Yoon and #3-ranked atomweight Ham Seo Hee.

“I trusted my hands and I believed in my power,” he told commentator Mitch Chilson after the fight. “So I expected this.”

What “Dynamic” didn’t expect was the US$50,000 performance bonus that ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong awarded him immediately afterward, topping off a stunning first appearance in the promotion.
