Rade Opacic Wins Third Straight With Destruction Of Patrick Schmid

Rade Opacic fires away at Patrick Schmid during their heavyweight bout at ONE: FIRST STRIKE.

Rade Opacic shows no signs of slowing down as he strives for a crack at the ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title.

The Serbian powerhouse continued his tour de force in The Home of Martial Arts, defeating Patrick “Big Swiss” Schmid via second-round TKO in the opening fight of the promotion’s first all-kickboxing showcase ONE: FIRST STRIKE on Friday, 15 October.

After briefly sizing up Schmid amid some casual exchanges inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Opacic found a major hole in his European rival’s game.

He dug deep into Schmid’s body midway through the first round, visibly hurting “Big Swiss” and repeatedly softening him up with more blows.

The 24-year-old then mixed up his points of attack with body shots and short hooks to the head – and he got rewarded with the first knockdown of the night in the final minute of the opening stanza.

After the restart, the KBKS Team standout quickly doubled down on that offense, swarming Schmid and landing a head kick that sent his opponent to the canvas for the second time.

While Schmid would survive the first round, Opacic didn’t need much longer to wrap up the match. The third knockdown came just seconds into the second round, as a straight right hand sent “Big Swiss” to the mat again.

Showing great resilience and toughness, Schmid refused to give up and even fired back with a few punches of his own. That, however, only delayed the inevitable.

A left head kick rocked “Big Swiss” once more, and Opacic – maybe mercifully – used a knee to score the fourth and final knockdown, earning the TKO at 1:19 of round two.

The win was the Serbian powerhouse’s third in as many outings in ONE, as he also scored sensational finishes of Bruno Susano and Errol “The Bonecrusher” Zimmerman.

If Opacic keeps up his rampaging ways, a battle for the ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title with either Roman Kryklia or Iraj Azizpour could be in his near future.
