Top 5 KOs From The MMA Stars Fighting At ONE: UNBREAKABLE II

South Korean MMA star Kwon Won Il fights Brazilian athlete Bruno Pucci at ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX IV

After almost every fight at ONE: UNBREAKABLE ended with fireworks, a plethora of ONE Championship’s other stars will try to outdo those record-breaking results.

They will get that chance at ONE: UNBREAKABLE II, a previously recorded event that airs this Friday, 29 January.

Before the six-bout card goes down, let’s relive five of the best knockouts from the athletes competing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Cerilli Tames ‘The Panther’

On the evening of 8 March 2019, Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli was four months removed from a knockout loss to ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, and the Italian wanted redemption.

He found it that night against four-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Alain “The Panther” Ngalani at ONE: REIGN OF VALOR in Yangon, Myanmar.

With the sheer power of his knees, Cerilli scored a TKO halfway through the first round of the pair’s heavyweight mixed martial arts matchup.

The finish came after the Italian threw Ngalani down and landed in half guard. From there, he worked his way into a front headlock and began to unload furious knees at “The Panther.” The Hong Kong-based hulk defended most of them well, but a right knee found its way through and flattened Ngalani on the canvas.

Cerilli is now looking to drop “The Hammer” on Abdulbasir “Dagestan Machine” Vagabov in the main event of ONE: UNBREAKABLE II with the hope of getting a second shot at old foe Vera.

Ngalani Flattens 7-Time Japanese BJJ Champion

Ngalani knows how to serve up fast KOs, too. And on 16 September 2017, his walkout to the Circle lasted longer than his match.

Eighteen months before he met Cerilli in Myanmar, “The Panther” faced off against seven-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion Hideki “Shrek” Sekine at ONE: TOTAL VICTORY in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he made history.

Ngalani snuffed out Sekine in just 11 seconds, breaking the record for fastest KO in ONE’s heavyweight division.

As soon as the opening bell rang, Sekine floundered toward Ngalani, who backpedaled away from the charging brick-shaped Japanese heavyweight.

“Shrek” then reached out to grab hold of “The Panther,” but when did, the Hong Kong hulk delivered a looping right hand to his foe’s chin, sending Sekine face-first into the canvas.

At ONE: UNBREAKABLE II, the record holder will look for another spectacular knockout against fellow behemoth “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane.

By November 2020, “Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il had earned all three of his ONE Championship wins by knockout, but his next opponent never expected to be number four.

At ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX IV in Singapore, Kwon found himself standing across from two-time BJJ No-Gi World Champion Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci, whose ground game was likely to present Kwon with his toughest challenge yet.

However, the South Korean negated his opponent’s grappling prowess with scorching striking attacks, which led to a first-round KO.

After the opening bell, the Brazilian tried to take Kwon down four times, but “Pretty Boy” defended the single- and double-leg shots every time.

That defense gave him the confidence to land three fight-ending punches. First came the two right crosses that forced Pucci to turn away. Then came the left hook-right uppercut combo that finished the bout in dramatic form.

Next, Kwon will test his takedown defense against ONE Jakarta Tournament Champion “The Ghost” Chen Rui at ONE: UNBREAKABLE II.

Chen Stops Iranian ONE Warrior Series Alumni

Last year was troublesome for many athletes, but not for Chen.

On 11 December 2020, Chen met ONE Warrior Series alum Ali Motamed at ONE: BIG BANG II in Singapore after COVID-19 restrictions had kept him out of action for a year.

However, he made up for 12 months’ worth of inactivity by pulverizing his opponent with a first-round KO.

The bout got off to an exciting start, with both men landing clean during their striking exchanges. But once Chen backed his foe into the Circle Wall – where Motamed tried to throw a left hand – he clipped the Iranian’s head with a right that sent him to the ground.

With that, the Chinese athlete jumped on his opponent and unleashed two hammerfists to seal the deal.

“The Ghost” will battle Kwon at ONE: UNBREAKABLE II in a clash between two athletes whose striking can instantly end a match.

Em Outmuscles Ukrainian Striking Standout

Sovannahry Em had a ONE Championship debut to remember.

Em entered The Home Of Martial Arts at ONE: DESTINY OF CHAMPIONS in December 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, against Iryna “Delsa” Kyselova, who was 10-3 at the time and had competed all over the world.

Despite that tough test, the Cambodian-American made short work of her more experienced opponent by scoring a first-round TKO over Kyselova in just over a minute.

In the opening stages of the round, Em pinned Kyselova to the canvas with a takedown. The Russian tried desperately to regain her feet, but the Cambodian-American stayed on top of her squirming opponent until she took her back. Once there, Em rained down punches and elbows on “Delsa,” and the referee was forced to step in.

Em is now returning to action against Choi Jeong Yun at ONE: UNBREAKABLE II, where she hopes to establish herself as the premier athlete in the women’s flyweight division.
