Top 4 KOs That Prove Xiong Jing Nan Is ONE’s Premier Women’s Finisher

ONE Women's Strawweight World Champion "The Panda" Xiong Jing Nan

“The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan came into ONE Championship like a wrecking ball, and has left a trail of opponents in her wake.

The Chinese athlete has made history by claiming the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship with her powerful displays of striking that have brought knockouts at the end of most of her bouts.

It is no surprise that the national boxing champion has done some damage with her fists, but with every contest in The Home Of Martial Arts, she shows a new facet to her kickboxing skill set.

Ahead of her return to action at ONE: CENTURY Part I on 13 October, when she will challenge “Unstoppable” Angela Lee for her ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title, check out the stoppages that show why she is the most potent finisher in her division.

#4 Sneaky Spinning Back Kick

Samara “Marituba” Santos proved to be a tough challenge for the Bali MMA-trained athlete in her second World Title defense, but the challenger fell to a devastating blow that she never saw coming – and neither did many fans.

Through the Brazilian went down to an unorthodox standing hammerfist, it was a spinning back kick that landed to the liver a few seconds before that did the most damage, and caused her to crumble onto the canvas.

#3 Punches In Bunches

Xiong’s ONE debut showed why the last thing an opponent wants to do is to stand toe-to-toe with her.

Team Lakay’s April Osenio gave a good account of herself for most of the first round, but when she got into an exchange of punches with “The Panda,” there was only going to be one winner. The Filipina was rocked by several hooks before a perfectly-placed blow to the jaw finished her off.

#2 Boxing Barrage

Up against another national boxing champion in Singapore’s Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, you might have expected the Chinese star to change her approach, but her supreme confidence in her ability meant her game plan was still to throw hands.

The native of Shandong province was first to the punch throughout the bout, and gradually wore her rival down during the opening three rounds. She maintained the pressure in the fourth, and one last flurry of looping strikes finally broke the resistance of the tenacious Teo.

#1 The Ultimate Comeback

In the closing moments of round four in Xiong’s first match with Lee in March, it looked like she was finished. Her challenger had her caught in a tight armbar that looked like it could break her limb, but somehow, she resisted until the bell.

“The Panda” needed a finish in the final five minutes to win, but she was still full of energy, and started to carefully pick her shots to gradually overwhelm the Singaporean. Even though her arm must have been damaged by the rigors of the previous stanza, her punches landed with power to the body and head to sap Lee’s remaining strength and will.

Xiong’s striking diversity shone through as she completed her comeback. A straight right to the body hurt “Unstoppable” badly, and the kicks to the midsection compounded the pain. That left the Singaporean open to a barrage of boxing, which forced the referee to stop the match, consign her to her first defeat, and confirm the Chinese hero’s status as the undisputed strawweight queen.

ONE: CENTURY is the biggest World Championship martial arts event in history with 28 World Champions featured across various martial arts. No organization in history has ever promoted two full-scale World Championship events on the same day.

The Home Of Martial Arts will break new ground as it brings multiple World Title bouts, a trio of World Grand Prix Championship Finals, and several World Champion versus World Champion matches to the famous Ryugoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on 13 October.
