Top 10 Women’s Bouts In ONE Championship

Xiong Jing Nan YK4_9718

ONE Championship’s women know how to throw down in the Circle.

Their matches have brought some of the most exciting action ever seen in The Home Of Martial Arts, as their never-say-die approaches make for some fantastic toe-to-toe, back-and-forth battles.

The list of all-time great match-ups continues to grow by the month, but for now, take a look back at the top 10 contests featuring some of the best female athletes in martial arts so far.

#10 Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol Vs. Jomary Torres

Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres came into ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES with a spotless record, but the roar of the Indonesian crowd pushed local hero Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol to victory through three breathless rounds.

The Filipina never stopped scrambling and pushing to land offense, but “Thathie” was too strong on the ground and too sharp with her striking. After 15 minutes, she deservedly took home a unanimous decision.

#9 Tiffany Teo Vs. Michelle Nicolini

Another hometown favorite earned victory by decision last November when Tiffany “No Chill” Teo came back from the brink of defeat to outpoint Michelle Nicolini.

The Singaporean strawweight was saved by the bell from a tight armbar, but she roared back to life for the final 10 minutes to shrug off takedown attempts and outstrike her rival to earn an inspiring victory.

#8 Kai Ting Chuang Vs. Yodcherry Sityodtong

Few ONE Super Series bouts can match last July’s inaugural ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Title match for fast-paced thrills.

“Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang never stopped coming forward with lightning-fast punches and kicks for five rounds, despite the power of Yodcherry Sityodtong’s kicks that came her way. There was no better way to crown a new World Champion.

#7 Jihin Radzuan Vs. Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol

One of the most exciting young talents in all of mixed martial arts faced a true test at ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER, but Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan passed with a fantastic performance against Lumban Gaol.

Then just 19, the Malaysian thrilled her home crowd as she engaged in some sensational scrambles with her rival, came close with submissions, and struck hard with ground and pound to earn a unanimous decision.

#6 Jomary Torres Vs. Rika Ishige

Torres made a stunning debut in the world’s largest martial arts organization when she took on the highly-touted Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige in August 2017 and stunned her with a second-round submission.

“The Zamboanginian Fighter” had to do things the hard way, however. She survived a torrid first round, but exploded out of the blocks after the restart, and secured the finish by softening her Thai opponent up with an intense attack on the ground.

#5 Mei Yamaguchi Vs. Kseniya Lachkova

Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi is the most experienced woman in ONE’s mixed martial arts roster, and she has been in more thrillers than any of her peers, too.

Her latest all-action effort came at ONE: A NEW ERA when she faced Kseniya “The Tigress” Lachkova, and met an opponent who seemed to have an answer for every attack. However, with less than two minutes to go, the Japanese hero’s persistence paid off as she secured an armbar to grab a late finish.

#4 Gina Iniong Vs. Jihin Radzuan

In February, Team Lakay’s Gina “Conviction” Iniong showed she was still a force to be reckoned with in The Home Of Martial Arts when she edged this battle of wushu specialists at ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS.

The Filipina won some high-octane exchanges on the feet, and dominated on the ground until the final moments of the match when she had to hang on for dear life to survive a late flourish from Jihin. Her toughness, combined with her exemplary offense, earned her the decision.

#3 Stamp Fairtex Vs. Janet Todd

Stamp Fairtex wrote her name into the ONE history books at ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS when she became a two-sport World Champion, but she had to be at her very best to capture the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title.

Janet “JT” Todd gave the Thai star everything she could handle over five rounds of battle, but her powerful boxing gave her the edge and her second belt.

#2 Angela Lee Vs. Mei Yamaguchi

The first women’s World Title match on the global stage was also one of the best bouts in mixed martial arts history. “Unstoppable” Angela Lee threw everything at Yamaguchi from the off, but could not find a way to put her away in the first two rounds.

At the start of the third, the Singaporean was almost toast when she was floored by a huge overhand right, but incredibly, she recovered and came back stronger to make 16 May, 2016 a landmark day for her sport, as its youngest ever World Champion was crowned.

#1 Xiong Jing Nan Vs. Angela Lee

The only way to improve on Lee’s World Title win was to put two World Champions together. In March, she stepped up a division to face “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, and these women gave the world an unforgettable encounter.

It was a back-and-forth affair as Lee’s aggression was matched by the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion’s counterstriking, but when the Chinese hero seemed to be in the ascendency, she almost lost everything.

In round four, Xiong had to survive a tight armbar that would have finished almost any other athlete. When she returned to her feet at the start of the final frame, she turned up the heat to score a remarkable comeback KO, and end one of the most epic matches you will ever see.
