ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao connects on Saemapetch Fairtex

ONE Super Series features the best strikers on the planet, so it should not be any surprise that 2019 was filled with incredible knockouts.

The living legends, promising contenders, and emerging young stars who compete in ONE Championship’s all-striking branch delivered some of the most dynamic action contested in the ring this year.

There were many explosive finishes that entertained the masses, but there were some, in particular, that stood out from the crowded field. With that in mind, here are the 10 best knockouts from ONE Super Series in 2019.

#1 Nong-O Gaiyanghadao vs. Saemapetch Fairtex

This past November at ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS, it was an all-Thai battle for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship when the division’s king Nong-O Gaiyanghadao successfully defended the gold against Saemapetch Fairtex in Singapore.

Nong-O took control early in the contest, and he nearly finished his younger opponent in the second frame. He knocked down the challenger with quick uppercuts, but the Fairtex representative answered the referee’s count. The titleholder aggressively followed up that attack with even more uppercuts to get a second knockdown at the tail-end of the round.

Despite that, Saemapetch showed incredible resilience in the third period. He returned with renewed vigor to push his childhood hero into the championship rounds.

Just as it seemed like the challenger was building momentum in the fourth stanza, Nong-O turned the tables. The Evolve star darted forward and connected with a thunderous cross, which landed right on the button and knocked out the Fairtex representative.

There was a trip to the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship Final on the line between Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan and “Smokin” Jo Nattawut at ONE: DREAMS OF GOLD in Bangkok, Thailand this past August.

The Armenian-Italian previously defeated the local hero via unanimous decision in April 2018, but this time, he achieved the second most awe-inspiring knockout of the year inside a single round.

Nattawut gave the home crowd something to cheer about early in the opening stanza, as he was quite active and connected with a plethora of kicks.

“The Doctor” soon landed his combinations, but then, he saw his Thai adversary’s guard wide open. Petrosyan softly measured him with the lead jab and then fired a stiff left cross directly at Nattawut’s chin, which immediately crumpled him to the canvas with only seconds remaining in the frame.

Janet “JT” Todd engaged in a very competitive Muay Thai atomweight clash with three-time Muay Thai World Champion Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva at ONE: CENTURY PART I in Tokyo, Japan this past October, but she ended the tilt in dramatic fashion.

Following a well-contested opening frame, where each woman was looking for the finishing blow, the American delivered the bout-ending strike towards the end of round two.

Todd blinded her Belarusian adversary with a fake jab, and then she launched a devastating strong side roundhouse kick at her taller opponent’s chin.

At that precise moment, Vandaryeva dropped her hand to throw a low kick and her exposed chin absorbed the brunt of the American’s head kick. “Barbie” stumbled around, fell to the mat, and could not answer the referee’s count.

Anderson “Braddock” Silva needed just 74 seconds to earn the biggest highlight-reel finish of his career.

The Brazilian knockout artist collided with Australian heavy-hitter Andre “The Giant” Meunier at ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR in Manila, Philippines this past April.

Meunier aggressively came out of his corner with strikes, but Silva was content on using his larger rival’s aggression against him. “Braddock” countered the Aussie mammoth, and it paid off.

As “The Giant” moved forward with a long left hook, the Brazilian stepped back and connected with a clubbing right hand to the temple that instantly sent his foe to the canvas. Silva walked off knowing Meunier’s lights were out for good.

This past September, Kohei “Momotaro” Kodera entered the record books by earning the fastest knockout in ONE Super Series history. What’s more, he achieved this stunning feat against a living legend.

The Japanese ace traded kicks with multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion Singtongnoi Por Telakun in the opening moments of their Muay Thai flyweight encounter at ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

But “Momotaro” quickly changed the complexion of the match with a spinning back fist, which rocked his older rival. When he closed the distance, he ate a knee, but then he wobbled Singtongnoi with a clean hook to the jaw.

An instantaneous left hook-right cross combination put the icon down for the count, giving “Momotaro” a 41-second knockout victory and a spot in the record books.
